Next generation - start them early

Got both of my kids out this year for Rifle Season. Daughter is 6 1/2 and wanted to get her own rifle tag this year so thats what we did. now my 4 year old boy is itching to get after his own deer. Lots of good times. try to get them out as much as possible, both here in AZ as well as MI where we are moving back to in July. Daughter said I need to buy her a crossbow now so I can get her out earlier since her Diamond Atomic doesn't have enough poundage to hunt with.

My Cousin also got it done this year with his son in the blind. big ol fat nanny doe. Good Eatin!

Keep up the GREAT work folks! R3 is really important to our sport and getting the next generation out and into it is super important! Keep it fun, Keep it light, make them comfortable!

Enjoy the times we have with the littles and make those memories!

Lol it ain't a hunt with your kids if they don't look through some binos backwards

Sometimes its the little carrots that get them ready too. Until recently, my kids keep telling me they dont want me to shoot deer. "Killing deer is bad daddy. I love deer!" But after a few weeks of eating venison steak medium rare.....everytime we see a deer on the road, they would ask me "when are we having deer steaks again daddy?"

Make some jerky or summer sausage up and then see what happens. If I want to keep any to myself I have to wait til after bedtime to eat it

With 3 kids under 6, I knew I wouldn't get out for many long sits this year. I opted to take my son along during rifle season and we enjoyed ourselves immensely--tried a big public parcel and he walked over a mile like a trooper but we ended up on private in the blind because he couldn't sit still. He caught up on sleep but woke up to watch me take a doe. Made some great memories. I've enjoyed everyone's pictures with their kids!

I may possibly crash the server with this thread. I love hunting and fishing with my kids. They’ve learned so much and are having a blast.

Just now seeing this and had to say that Bad Lip Readings songs slap so hard. Seagulls: Stop it Now, Bushes of Love, My Stick...they all live in my head all day, every day, rent free.

Your kids seem cool.

I’m jealous of all of you good parents out there. I lost sight of “now” and suddenly found myself looking at kids about to graduate.

I still have hopes with grandkids but lost my chance with my own.
It sure does go by fast. Take heart buddy... they might be ready to graduate but you still have today. :)

Why's it gotta be too late? My dad regrets never trying to get my sister into hunting yet still doesn't ask her if she wants to today. Ask.. you never know. Even if they don't want to on their own maybe they'd be interested in just tagging along

Here's a classic social media "la-dee-da, life is perfect" shot. Had him out checking the weekend line a couple times. This day was a big mistake. There was no snow at home, but a few inches up in the mountains, clinging to everything. About 30 seconds after this, it all went downhill in a hurry. He stepped in the crick over his boot and I had to carry him the 600 yards back to the truck, crying the whole time. He said he never wanted to go again but he recovered by the following weekend fortunately.
