No college football= more hunting pressure?

Yeah I've never really understood the diehard college fans from people that didn't even go to that school. I've also met very few kids at the University of Florida that weren't fans when I was there. Something about the major college football atmosphere will suck almost anyone in. Go Gators!
I made it through four years if college and never watched a game. I may or may not have shot some campus squirrels with an air pistol.

Hello, I agree with you though morning hunts aren't my favorite.
Fair enough. Missouri bow hunters had similar concerns a few years ago when they started allowing cross bows, many feared that the guys who only gun hunted would flood the woods. The few I talked with pretty much immediately quit after getting eaten up by ticks and chiggers and the woods are more or less the same as before.
As another poster added, I’m more concerned about youth sports being cancelled. I know of a bunch of guys who repeatedly bail on hunting because their boys have football games.

Do you guys actually think the crowd that usually sits on the couch all weekend is suddenly going to find the motivation to get up before dawn and sit in a tree?
To top it off, what percentage is willing to have multiple uneventful sits and try to conquer the learning curve involved? If it does affect pressure, im hoping its like the gym on new years (empties out after 1-2 weeks).

I know that where I hunt, guys will stay home for Nascar race & college football

So the less sports to keep them at home , the more I’ll be seeing them in the woods

It's been interesting reading through the past three pages of comments. For several years now I have been a few college football schedules handy for the sole purpose of knowing which teams are playing on which afternoons. I don't even watch football.

If it is a team with a big following locally, or a big rivalry game, I am more likely to try and hunt that afternoon. This is especially true for public land. It's one more little detail to help stack the odds in my favor. I can not tell you how many times I have encountered people leaving the woods early to get home in time for whatever game is scheduled. There is a definite correlation with the hunting pressure to football schedule..... and those are the days when I have a lot of my best hunts, best encounters, and least amount of people stumbling into the area I'm hunting.

Nothing against football, sports...etc. Just not my thing and I figure why not use it to my advantage where I can.

In regards to the effect it will have on the upcoming season, I have no idea.
If the recent fishing craze is any indication there won't be a vacant tree in the woods!
