I can only speak for my DIY pivot sticks. On my setup, I used one talon per side because I have (Mike Isbel) extra straps to secure the sticks while walking. I fastened a bungee loop to the versa button nut on the stick for a tighter fit when the two are stacked together. But again, cbigbear has multiple options.
