This past weekend I was playing around and decided to one stick climb with just a HSS vest.I always keep a lineman's rope attached so I just shortened it with the prussic to make a bridge.Shockingly it was easier to climb with than a JX3 or a regular saddle.Once I got up the tree,I adjusted the tether and leaned back.Again,I was shocked at how comfortable it actually was because you actually get some back support.All it need was some support for my butt and then I remembered I had a sit and drag at home that I never used.I removed the straps and just clipped the seat portion to carabiners where the bridge hooked to the lineman's loops.When you lean back,it's extremely easy to adjust the seat to the perfect spot.Honestly,it was the most comfortable saddle set-up I've ever used.Another advantage is the vest has pockets and it's way easier to wear walking in than a traditional saddle.

interesting! HHS vest is the same/similar to a full body tree stand harness? thats pretty cool man. so you're just tying in a bridge to the lineman loops? what made it easier to climb with? so many questions... haha sorry.
if you customized it with a permanent seat/saddle section this could sell in retail stores i would assume...since TMA already approves full body harnesses. to my knowledge, thats why commercial saddles are only available online.

Yep,I just used THE LINEMAN'S rope and clipped it the other lineman's loop to make a bridge.It was easier to climb with because it seemed to disperse my body weight more evenly.Adding the sit and drag made it way more comfortable than a traditional saddle because you can slide it up and down and actually sit or lean back in the middle of it.
Before I received my Kestrel Flex, this is the exact configuration I used. Instead a sit and drag, I used a commercial grade swing set seat. I liked the more rigid structure of it and did not mind the bulk carrying in since I hunted private only with max 1/2 mile walk in.
Well...i guess that answers his question haha. Hard to think of something nobody has tried before on here
I use it but sat in the sitdrag. I think mine was the gorilla tek? Maybe? same concept.

I have three of them I bought to get the webbing for some sewing projects. I may give this a try. I am not sure why.
Not to be a debbie downer but there was a previous discussion about this exact topic that convinced me to get an RCH, instead of suspending from the linesmans loops on my HSS harness. The loops are meant as a brace to help balance while working aloft, not as primary life support.
