October 2016 Saddlehunter Group Hunt Ideas

This sounds exciting. I live meeting other hunting nuts, and can never get enough tree time in. It's a but of a drive for me from minnesota, but I am tempted. Scouting would be an issue though from here.

I'd love to participate but I have too much going on in 2016 for the wife to allow that... I'm still trying to sell her on the idea of a couple of weekends down in OH for a few public land hunts with my cousin. :lol:
 
I just got a call from one of my ex-coworkers who needed a reference for a job at the Allegheny County Court house.. I'm hoping she gets it so I have a free room :)

I don't plan on telling mine about the trip until we are so deep that I can't back out. That's my plan!!!


Ernie, I doubt many folks will have an opportunity to scout. If it is PA or OH, I may be lucky enough to get some time in, but if we choose another state I would be going in blind.

Yeah. I agree. It's possible I could go up during spring, but I'd definitely like to be a part of the October hunt. It's a drive for me from Carolina but I could maybe do a long weekend in spring and then a short week in October

Prill, do you have maps, an area, etc that folks could get to from the Jersey Shore Exit of I80? Basically assume they can be at Lewisburg in about 20 minutes on I80. Are you familiar with decent hunting within a reasonable distance of there?
 
So anybody have any thoughts on what week to do? I'm leaving towards the earlier week. We are getting an archery bear season next year and I'm not sure of the dates but I think rumors were it would be towards the end of October. I'd like to be around for that if possible.
 
My suggestion would be the third weekend in October. I usually take a week of vacation the second week of November. So if I took time of the 3rd week of October for Saddlepalooza 2016, I'd still have enough time in between hunts to get work done.
