Official Predator Platform review thread!!

Just got mine in the mail and when I first pick the box up I thought it was my Hang Time hoodie. Then I looked and it said Tethrd on it. I'm very impressed so lite. Just a shout out to Greg and Ernie thanks for an awesome platform and my season doesn't start till September 15 so I have plenty of time to play with it and see if I'll stop using my Ameristeps as a platform. I just started camouflaging my Hilium sticks so I might as well camo the Predator platform.

HangTime hoodie should come tomorrow!

Got my issue fixed! Wesson vegetable oil and loosened the post bolt and it was quiet as nothing was there. I’m back on the Tethered wagon baby! Can’t wait for the predator! Thanks Ernie and Warren.

I bet some graphite powder on the bushing would help as well. I use that stuff for everything lol

Thank you for reminding me I bought a bottle of that stuff. I'm going shove it in a sticky door lock, and put some on the platform joint. Good call

Received my predator today. Hung it 3 times. One water oak,one sweet gum, and one pine tree. Locked in solid on all the different barks, easy to mount, easy to carry. Don't have my saddle yet so I couldn't do a complete test, but it felt really good. Can't wait to get the mantis!

What's not to like? I don't think that they were over hyping it when they called it a game changer.

Mine didn't start squeaking until I had messed with it for 20-30 mins.

I loosened my post bolt to get it to quit squeaking. Very pleased with the platform half of Tethrd. Can’t wait to try the other half!

Another solution for the squeaking/popping is graphite powder or penetrating oil. They are two opposite approaches, but both would work perfectly.

Also, for those of you worried about the strap... I ran this exact webbing as a bridge for 3 years. It looks frayed as heck, but I found no structural degradation over the three years. Mine was fuzzy as all get out. I lifted a disk harrow with it after @g2outdoors replaced it with a fixed amsteel bridge. If it will haul a 750+ pound implement swinging around the farm after 3 years of rough use... it is still fine.

Got home from shooting doves this weekend and look what was waiting for me! I ran outside and put it in a pecan tree tighten the strap cammed it over with no problems. It cammed very securely to the tree and worked flawlessly. Definitely is a big improvement over standing on bolts in my opinion. I had no squeaking or popping issues as some have stated they have had. I also looked at the washers very closely and I see why they had to use a tapered washer. If you take the platform apart it should be pretty self-explanatory how they fit back in. If you have them in the wrong orientation there should be a big gap between the washer and the post on the backside of the post(when in the folded position). I will say that there are some sharp edges where the casting must have come out of the mold that I will probably take a file and lightly take those edges off before I paint it but it probably shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to do the entire platform. As far as I'm concerned they hit a homerun with this.

For sure. Even the curved one I have Ernie assured my was structurally solid and I have no noise or camming issues. I wrapped post in camo form but will get the stealth strips eventually

I don't have my platform yet, so I'll ask those of you that have: Do the sharp edges some people have mentioned affect anything other than wearing out your pack and being rough on your hands? I was thinking it might actually increase grip on your boots when leaning or pushing off to position for a shot. I know I could just wait until mine arrives and find out myself, but I'm feeling left out of the conversation. :disappointed:
