Official Predator Platform review thread!!

@flinginairos when you setup your platform do you put a slight downward angle on it or try to adjust it a flat a possible. I find on my ring of step that I feel most comfortable when my heel is slightly lower than my toes. Perpendicular to my legs when leaning.

Slight down angle is def the most comfortable. I try to have mine mostly flat but a little bit of down angle doesn’t bother me either. Most times I “stand” with my feet on the outer front edge with my heels down and toes up if that makes sense. I rarely stand flat footed on it.

Thanks. That’s what I planned. Just slightly pitched

I have read about guys extending there transfer to platform past a couple feet. I’d like to do the same, I recently purchased stepps and I’m going to use the knaider/ swaider method. Not sure how to get the extra height safely though?

If you’re using the knaider/swaider why not use the swaider on your tether. Then it becomes a red squirrel aider. You may have to play with the lengths but you should be setting your tether before climbing onto the predator. Then just hook your swaider into the carabiner on your tether.

This is what I do to get to my top stepp when using an aider. I have an extra Prusik knot on my tether that I hook my aider to. I’m already tethered in at that point and still use my linesman rope.

picture of you hooked in this way?

This thing is amazing. When you pull it out of the shipping box its shocking how lite it is. I mean its really really lite. The only ting I don't like is, there is a little side to side movement on the bracket.

I'm starting to get a little concerned about the strap fray. I think I have seen a couple pics on the site showing that. Wonder if we have a strap manufacturer issue?

I may have found the culprit causing the frayed strap. It seems to be the buckle or to be more exact, the spring leg that’s protruding on the inside. I inspected the strap and everything else before I even tried to strap it to a tree, and everything was perfect. There’s a slight barely visible curve to the front edge, but it’s not even enough to trigger my OCD. .

Here’s the minute fraying

Here’s the spring leg protruding, it has a fairly sharp edge

Other than that, I’m truly impressed by the Predator.
It’s a solid platform and I have yet to experience any wiggle or other kind of misbehaving when strapped to a tree.

Thanks Tethrd, you guys did good !!

The platform has a little squeak to it when shifting weight. Is that the bottom bolt or bushings, I haven’t nailed down where the noise is. I’m sure. It can be fixed with something just haven’t figured out what it is yet. Other than that it’s awesome

does your top bracket move a little? Might be form there?

Just received my Predator today and wasn't disappointed. It's the missing piece of the puzzle for me as a saddlehunter. But, like you, my platform either squeaked or popped every time I shifted my weight or moved in any kind of way. I tightened the bolt, loosened the strap, tried different trees, but nothing I did would stop it form making that sound. So, I decided to try some lubrication on the bushings. I figured the best thing that I had available was the chain lube that I use on my dual sport motorcycle and it worked. After a few squirts it's totally silent. WD-40 might have worked but I know what I used will.

Just got mine in the mail and when I first pick the box up I thought it was my Hang Time hoodie. Then I looked and it said Tethrd on it. I'm very impressed so lite. Just a shout out to Greg and Ernie thanks for an awesome platform and my season doesn't start till September 15 so I have plenty of time to play with it and see if I'll stop using my Ameristeps as a platform. I just started camouflaging my Hilium sticks so I might as well camo the Predator platform.

I just put some bow wax on the bolt head and nut to see if it works. If not I will try lube. If I can get it to stop this noise it is pretty much perfect as long as it's durable.

Just a PSA, careful spray painting that close to a car. My first car, I was about 18 and decided to use gold spray paint on some walleye jigs. The windshield of my car, 15 yards downwind, was a disaster after that.

A body man told me that airborne paint spray doesn't dry until it lands on something.
