No Fling just tightened it enough to hold it. No crushing force placed on it

I didn't figure, just making sure. I don't have one of those straps on hand to take a look at so i'm not sure. I wouldn't think bending the spring end out would cause that.

I didn't think so either. As a matter of fact I have four guys in my dept. at work who all agreed that bending the spring out of the way should work. we do all kinds of mechanical stuff all the time. Fling you don't have the spring problem on your platform?

the first thing I did was swap out the strap to a lw strap. I am not a fan of the color green straps. Otherwise happy with the platform.

I’m actually just using the old prototype right now with a LW strap. I don’t have the new strap. Wish I did so I could help you out. Reach out to Ernie I’m sure he will take care of you. He’s super busy I know but I’m sure he will help

I can say i bent the tip of the spring outward and mine is working fine. Its holding solid and loosens when i depress it.

Yep. They got some tweets to make from what I see. I plan to go straight to an amsteel mod.
I need to try to put amsteel on mine. I'm curious if you'll be able to get it tight enough with the built-in versa button. It seems like it's made with an extra large gap to accommodate the straps. I'll find out soon enough.

Works fine on mine. Twice around behind the loop and 2 hitches.

I like the idea of amsteel. Are you using 1/4”? How is it as far as camming over and tightness?

I’d imagine, like with the other items I used amsteel with, you will have to get the stretch out of the rope 1st, then it should be a solid cam over.

I was just gonna ask the same thing.
It seems to be very critical to get just the right amount of tension on the strap, and do so as you cam it down. Too little and the rig can slide down slightly and damage the stand off teeth, and too much tension can also damage the teeth.
A buckle allows more precise adjustment than trying to tie a knot.
Not say Amsteel can't be used. I'm just wondering how easy it is to get the proper adjustment.
BTW, I have a piece of 1/4" Amsteel laying around...I'm definitely gonna experiment with it. If it works well, I'd rather use it than a strap.

I am looking at doing a 1/4” amsteel whoopie sling for my predator. I think that would give the adjustability needed.

I tried a 1/4" amsteel daisy chain last night that seemed to work pretty well. I need to give it a few more trials to be sure but my firsst impression is it is quick, easy and felt secure.

I like that. I guess I need to learn how to daisy chain Amsteel. Any links to vids on doing that?
I've done 1 locked bummel on 1/4" Amsteel and it was easy. Is daisy chain as easy to do?

Yep, you got it. The downside is if the "nearest" loop isn't tight enough you may need to take the excess slack out of the rope by pushing down slightly on the post before you lock the platform over. Not too much, just enough to get it to hold securely. As I said above, I need a few more trees to try it on before I commit to it being the right solution. Just wanted to throw it out here as a possibility.

I think that might pair well with using a bolt on the backside of the tree. The rope could "catch" on the bolt preventing it from sliding down, as well as serving as a foot rest and allowing an easy way to "step down" onto the platform.

Got my wheels spinning.

The amsteel grabs the tree bark well. I didn't notice any slide. My biggest concern would be overstressing the platform by pushing the post down. That's really what I want to evaluate further.
