Southern Ohio - With not being able to locate any private land to hunt and having public land 5 minutes from my new house I decided the 2021 season was gonna be the year to try public land. I failed to scout before season, totally my fault. So on November 1st I did a hang and hunt over top of some fresh scrapes near thick green briars. Towards the end of the hunt I watched a nice 8 point come within 40 yards, didn’t get a chance to shoot. Went back again on November 15th in the evening. While I was still setting up a button buck read the script and walked the trail I was over top of. I couldn’t pass it up. This is my 15th season of deer hunting. And 6th with a bow. I have almost always been a meat hunter and rarely pass a deer. So a 20 yard shot on a public land deer, I took it all day long! I one sticked up with a modified hawk stick, I had a ROS of cut off hawk helium steps, and I was sitting in a saddle that I had hand stitched myself (Wraptor design with a transformer twist). First archery deer out of a saddle and I have zero regrets!
