old hunter

I’m 54 and am an active duty Navy Chaplain. I’m blessed with unusual health and athleticism for my age. I out performed most of the battalion on our last fitness test. I think hunting paired with eating plenty of venison explains a lot of it. The rest is simply a gracious gift from God. I hope to keep saddle hunting as long as I have breath in my body. You guys inspire me. Stay strong!
Thank you for your service!!! You've got the most important job there is sir!!! God Bless you!!

I retired at 62 and I am going on 66 I can tell you that living life knowing that every day is Saturday is a blast . The only thing I will say to the guys that are still working and getting close to retirement is you need to have hobbies to keep you moving and keep your mind going.
I'm closing in on retirement and trying to stay healthy and save money so I can do the things I've always wanted to do when I grow up. My wife thinks I may never grow up; however!!! Most of the things I want to do is DIY hunts for big bucks in other states and maybe try my hand at some Elk hunting. Not to derail the thread but it would be nice to hear what others do to keep fit and their eating habits. I was getting chunky and went Carnivore two years ago and lost like 45-50lbs and it has been great. I do 100 push ups every day and I have a decently active chore list as I burn firewood and cut and stack it etc. all summer and I also like to bike and hike but what do you other dudes do to stay fit? However, my day job is an office job and alot of sitting at a desk and although I love my job, I hate the sedentary aspects of it more every day.

Hi woodsdog2 15 years ago I had back surgery for a ruptured disk after the surgery the doctor said the only physical activity that i can recommend is to get out and walk he said start slow and add a little longer walk every week or so, at that time i was over 210 lbs. With in 2.5 months i was up to 6 miles a day after 3 months i had walked off 30 pounds. My suggestion is to go out and start walking short distances and slowly adding distance to it. Best of luck to you and stay safe and healthy.

This guy was on Mike Rowes Pod cast. Keto, Atkins diet. What ever you call it.
