I have several ilf risers and run most of the with a spigarelli wire and recently a springy rest. The both work great. The springy is twangy and I don't like that.
I been test running this Omp rubber silencer
that I trimmed to get closer to off the shelf on my heavy bow.
There is minor wear at aroung 300 shots.
I might try to line it somehow or on the next one but so far I like it very much.
I know but its working for me!Screenshot_20230723-090721_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20230723-090727_Gallery.jpg

That is funny I was thinking of doing that this morning cause I hate the sound of the springy rest as well. In the early days of warfin I use to make them out wood or putty something very similar in shape

The guys I shot with last week said," that thing shoots pretty good".
One of these and a stabilizer for color and you will shoot better.
If that doesn't work maybe a wrist sling will do the trick. Lol

The springy rest is easily fixable. I actually just read about it cause I may get one.
Cut a small length of D loop material or something similar with an outside and a core....like paracord but smaller. Pull out the center. Slide the outside part around the spring rest. Heat the ends to lightly melt in place.

The rubber rest works good but I know it will wear out.
I want to find a lining that will stick or press into the rubber. Maybe a long strip of velcro that starts and ends on the metal.
DDD on tradtalk makes rests out of some compound for different bows and sells them.
Guys use many things like JB weld to build shelfs.

Somebody is gonna comment on that thing but it aint gonna be me.
Its hard to be the first to point out the truth because we dont want to be that guy haha!

The first 30 second of Bill Burr is us in this moment.

I'm sitting in my office at 6 am wanting to post

"That thing look like a *(#&$$!!"

I use to use a packing tape that was extremely strong that had silicone properties and had long fibers in the tape on my shelf and strike plate that lasted for years without any wear. I bet if you put a strip on the REST it will not wear down at all because I feel if it works then use what you brung and who cares if it’s not traditional enough  and it look’s something like thisIMG_4973.jpgIMG_4973.jpg

Flipper rest is plastic, center rest is metal.

Do they make just the mouth shaped model or do they have any other styles so you can mix it up?

One way to go would be to shoot off a built up shelf but use an Accutune or a DIY version of that where you can effectively adjust strike plate thickness as much as you want on the fly.

I've seen guys use teflon tape to protect heavy wear parts of a rest/shelf, not sure if it would adhere well to the OMP rest though.
