One Stick...Why rappel?

The rappelling part is very cool...I use that method to get down...I use spurs to climb...let us know how the one sticking goes...also...I also thought of using a RC harness instead of a $250 saddle...what are the cons of using a $50 RC harness?
RC harness def NOT comfy to sit in for any amount of time. I use RC harness instead of a traditional safety harness When using tree stands

My 71 year old father was out hunting the other day in the snow and freezing cold out of a tree stand.

Couple weeks earlier we spent an entire afternoon with him using my saddle and safeguard repel system in the backyard for something to do. Mentioned he wanted to just try it, but not interested in saddle hunting per say as he likes his comfy stands.

This particular trip mentioned above he randomly decided to grab my saddle with the repel system pouch just to have in his pack to see how it carried for extra weight.

Well, come dark the tree and steps were all iced up and he thought he was stuck up there not wanting to fall, he called me for help thinking I would need to go out there . During our conversation he mentioned that he had the saddle/repel gear with him. Decision was made by him that he would repel down as he felt very comfy when he had previously did it and I was comfortable after he explained the process multiple times to me.

100% successful , he now has decided to bring it on every tree stand hunt ( I know still working on him to use the saddle for the hunt etc). He says he will repel down every time as he feels it’s more safe for him than climbing down freehand .

I’m happy and feel better about him hunting from a stand with it, I believe my mother is too.

I sung the praises of repelling based on my experiences . However, now that it helped/saved my older father and from now on will add a major safety factor to his hunting I just wanted to share this .
