OnX ads complaint/rant

I still have a flip phone and only use it about once a month. I don't get signal at home and signal is spotty around here and the places I hunt. I can sometimes get signal up in a tree but only when on a ridge. When in a hollow, I am SOL. Those hunting apps sure sound interesting but I would be wasting my time and money.

Well… they aren’t dependent on cell service. With a small amount of effort to download maps for your hunting area they can function entirely using GPS.

I’m guessing most of us regularly hunt in areas without cell reception.

Mapping apps are the only significant reason I don’t use a simple flip phone.

So I just got an OnX account - and was immediately asked to provide my personal info so that they could keep me in the loop. Is there any benefit to doing this or is it like everything else these days - where we all opt out so that we aren’t constantly bombarded with spam?

Never share cell #, unless you can imagine a reason when you would want them to contact you. Chances are good this data will be monetized by selling to a data broker.
