OnX ads complaint/rant

I agree… Spartan Forge sucks, except for the Lidar. Thats the only reason I keep it.

I had both OnX and Spartan Forge last year and if I’m only keeping one it would be OnX for me but I decided to keep both one more year. I like a lot that Spartan Forge does and really want to support them but they’ve got some stuff to work out and I was sure hoping they’d work it out more quickly. $60 a year is only a bargain if it works and I wouldn’t have done it if I wouldn’t have looked at my subscriptions on Apple and realized I could do it for $40 instead of $60. Personally I don’t like that at all either, in my opinion they tried to charge me $20 more for renewing my subscription in their app.
 
I've had On X for a few yrs but lost my boundaries and ownership and they are not very user friendly at helping you out. I cancelled mine but I need one of them and not sure which one.

Worth doing their online chat or sending them a message if you haven’t already. They got back to me real quick on an issue I had, fixed it, and then the rep I had actually gave me his direct contact info and said if I had any more trouble just come right to him and he’d help.

can you elaborate? not sure I follow and I want to understand since I'm also currently paying for both OnX and SF and plan to only keep one.
 
I don’t ever get ads, but I have Onx Elite.

Spartan Forge is far less money than OnX Elite but if it doesn’t do what you need it to or work consistently than it isn’t saving you money, you’ll end up getting OnX again anyway thereby spending more.

When I went to renew in the app it was $60, I thought that was too much to justify. I checked my subscriptions in the Apple menu and it offered the renewal for $40, for some reason that felt like a number I was ok with to see what progress they continue to make.
 
I’ve had both and kept Spartan forge while dropping onx. The lidar is a game changer. Also where available the UAV imagery on Spartan forge blows away anything onx offers. Plus I’ve spoken with Bill Thompson several times and he seems genuinely committed to offering the best product possible. He’s the type of guy I’m willing to give my $$ to. And he keeps trying to improve, something I can’t necessarily say for onx

I'm going to have to try to remember to look there. They got me at a show for $40 and told me the renewal would be $60
 
Anyone know what the best current promotional deal is for OnX Elite?

I use and love Gaia GPS - but I’m gonna get OnX to ease communication with my hunting buddies. My plan is to keep the free version of Gaia for all of my personal mapping of routes and waypoints and use Gaia for navigation and communication.

I’ve sent them a suggested feature (That I want) twice now, they say the right stuff but ….lol….I don’t see them advertising the app can do it so I’m on hold till my idea gets implemented.

Edit to add that I subscribe and then go turn off the auto renewal on this just as I do others. Seems to me most things have a price increase year over year but there are also discounts every year. I’d rather let it expire for a day and save 20% than get auto renewed at the new higher rate.

Happened to me in April it's kind of infuriating when you have everything working great then you drop out and SF wants uid/pw then after curse words you input then the logon fails then you hike somewhere with signal and logon succeeds then hike out of service and repeat....

Later that day I'm thinking, did I really spend an hour pecking on my phone fighting a stupid app while hiking around these beautiful hills?
