OOAL Scout Platform A+

@gcr0003, you have no idea how impressed I am that you got ole @swampsnyper to not only try something new, but to like it.
When you get old, you don't have to buy everything and try it to know if its good. You can just look at it and know if it will work for you. At least most of the time. Keeps you off the classifieds selling everything. I'm not mentioning any names.

Hey now, I didn’t sell the scout and I’ve had the kite at least 2 months now.

How comfortable do you guys feel shooting off of it? Not sure if it's the angle or small area, but when i draw my bow out feels like I'm trying to push the cosby kids into the pool but they ate too much cheese.

I have squirrel steps on the strap, so I stand comfy until its time to shoot, then I can use the squirrel steps to have a wide enough stance to shoot.

I have the Scout Solo with squirrels on the strap and really love it.

How does the scout on a climbing stick work compared to a scout or solo strapped to the tree. I would imagine there are more kick outs and it places you farther from the tree no?

Being further from the tree is what makes the scout on a stick great. It gives you more room for shot opportunities. I don’t see it having a potential for kick out with an amsteel rope mod. Maybe a daisy chain because it doesn’t get as tight for me. My stick is solid. I’ll know more after a season of use with it.

Thank you for the reply, never thought of it that way. Open wallet... hand over money .

I might try one sticking this year with the double aider. Wonder if the scout would get in the way having it on the stick.

I have a mini with a scout on top step. I have hit my shin once out of 5? climbs, but once was more than plenty. Still not enough to make me want to move it to the bottom of the mini, because I feel that would be worse for kicking out when pushing off the backside. The only negative is the double the price tag on scout+stick combo vs the solo scout.

I’ve got mine on the bottom and haven’t had it kick out on me so far. Maybe if the stand offs weren’t razor spikes it would. But to make sure it doesn’t happen while at height I also use an ocb strap with 2 squirrel steps cinched down just below my cam cleat. That thing doesn’t budge then. I also banged my shin trying it on top. Not a good feeling! Lol

@Aaronpaul14 how is the cam cleat working out on the shikar? I was so busy over the summer i didnt have time to fool with it but that was my first thought when i got the sticks in hand. Back in Feb or so, noone had tried it because the cleats were wider than the stick and folks were worried it wouldnt be stable.

Working great! I used it to climb and preset some trees in the off season and have used it on two different hunts since opening day. I have dismantled it 2-3 times to check for any issues and everything is as it should be.

trailblazer75 just put the larger cam cleat on his.

Does anybody have video of the scout with the ROS used together?
