Oplux as lineman’s belt.

I tried oplux this year and didn’t love it. What 8mm rope would you recommend, if any? Thanks.
I don’t really have a preference for 8mm. There are a couple 9mm ropes that work great though.
Bluewater Protac is my personal favorite. The 9mm isn’t noticeably bigger than 8mm oplux and it’s much stiffer and stronger.
Also the 3/8” HTP from sterling is a good stiff rope as well.

I was using rope man 1’s on lb and tether but for noise sake I switched. May go back to rope man. Any suggestions on a rope ? I like the Oplux for its packable size but to use a rope man I need a larger diameter rope. Ty
I use ropeman on it, works fine

Sterling Rope 6.8mm Hollow Block Loop https://a.co/d/cVnNwQV

I bought these on Amazon. This thing is badass for a prussic.Sticks like glue and moves with ease. It’s awesome I replaced all my prussics with them

Canyon C-IV makes for a nice linesman’s. Slightly bigger diameter than Oplux and 50% stiffer (very technical measurement from using it on a tree….) if you decide to change ropes. Still packs up or daisy chains nicely.

However, like others have said, if the Oplux doesn’t bother you, change hitches. Distel, Schwabish, Knut, Michoacán, Stitch, and my personal favorite, the Cornell.

Know of any place that sells 9 mm Bluewater Protac by the foot?

I use an Oplux tether with Happy Hands hitch.

I also use HTP linesman with a Happy Hands hitch

I can say that the Happy Hands moves MUCH easier on the HTP than the Oplux. On the Oplux it grabs and does not move which is why I like it on my tether. I don't adjust my tether hitch much at all so its not an issue. However, the Happy Hands is not loaded with the same amount of weight on each rope so maybe that is why it moves easier on the HTP.

Well if that guy finds a 10’ belt, I may know a guy interested.

Never used OpLux, but I use some inexpensive 8mm “static climbing rope” from Amazon tbh, with A 6mm prusik wrapped in a 4x4 configuration with an EWO tender. The rope is very strong and fairly rigid while maintaining flexibility around the tree. Main downside to 8mm is that you have to use knots or sewn splices, can’t truly splice them as far as I’m aware, and knots may be bulky but probably less bulky than larger ropes even with true splices. I may switch back to 11-12mm soon simply because I like the way thick rope handles and I want to use a RM1 on my LB, but I would not sneeze at that damn Amazon budget rope. Dunno the brand but @Nutterbuster sent me a couple lengths a few seasons ago and they’re holding up great. I’m actually marginally more confident in them than I am with my higher-quality ropes. Also, check post-Christmas and New Year sales at places like REI and Wesspur, they may have “brand name” ropes at lower prices, and Amazon is having some price reductions on Black Diamond, Sterling, and Bluewater ropes as you read this.

Powerful UIAA Static Rock Climbing Rope - High Strength Static Climbing Rope - Rock Mountaineering Climbing Gear - 10.5mm Rescue Rope - Heavy Duty Rope https://a.co/d/bj9nQis

I’d probably just buy my rope from one of the vendors here if I had it to do over. But I have this rope it’s nice

i don't know....i don't trust Amazon rope in general....especially rope from a no name company where the description reads like a menu at a restaurant where english is barely their second language

good rope is not that expensive if you buy by the foot

Gonna try the protac out

I probably do get my fingers too near the tree with the oplux

It's like if oplux and htp banged and had an offspring
