We got in late last night and disperse camped on a side road in the Routt National forest outside of the NP. It got down to 38 last night at 10 thousand ft. It was cold getting out of the bag this morning but it warmed up pretty quickly. This morning we drove through the Rocky Mountain NP in Colorado marking our 7th and final NP of our trip. It’s been a haul of a trip but absolutely worth it, especially since it’ll be a good couple years before we will be able to do a big road trip again. Thank you all who offered recommendations and for those that stuck around to see some snap shots from our adventures.

I don’t know if I already said it but I’ve been exceptionally pleased with this MSR tent I got on super sale from REI last year. It has three doubled poles that make big Xs that are long but very easy to install. I can set it up myself in about 12 mins and about 8 with the Mrs. This made a huge difference when we were wanting to put up or break down camp quickly. It’s also 6ft or so in the middle so you have room to stand and change without bending too much. The rain fly covers the tent fully giving it great stability and cover from wind and rain despite being taller than A backpacking tent. It will be nice for over night hunting trips.

Is that an Australian shepherd @gcr0003 ? That last picture looks so much like our dog from when I was a kid! Great dogs

She’s a Border Collie/Australian shepherd mix. She’s a great dog, a little high strung but If you run her good everyday shes content to sleep all day. She’s done a lot of sleeping on this trip. Currently…. LolEB781D5E-C43E-4375-8D4D-26A05052F647.jpeg

Happy to hear you got an awesome dog man! I seen other pictures and thought not quite an Aussie, now I know why.

Safe travels! Thanks for sharing! Now I need to get to planning lol

Man, your dog reminds me so much of my dog! In addition to those breeds he's got lab in him as well. How old is your dog? I'd love to do a trip/some camping like this with mine one day. Might just have to follow your blueprint. Thanks for taking us along on the ride it's been great to see some different country
