Pac Seat Review

Right on. Thank you. What should I be gugling? DME? Weel?

Edit: Oh I see. Got me on a misspelling. :tearsofjoy: So then, do you have any other particulars to pass along?
Sorry didn't have my glasses on either!!! and my phone has a mind of its own on spelling!!!!

Yep, it was...made a world of difference (to me,) in the comfort of the chair, & made it much easier for me to turn on the chair for thse weak side shots.
Ok. Yeah I need some other solution if I'm even going to consider taking the pacseat out again.

How heavy is this cushion? I have some gel cushions around the house and the are pretty dense. I understand that it’s probably not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, but if you can get adequate comfort from an inflatable cushion at a fraction of the weight, it might be something to consider.

Y'all putting that gel cushion under your tush or on your lower back?

I did the first sit in mine yesterday and only annoyance I had was the tube on the edge of the seat digging into my hammies. Not unbearable, but I wonder if a cushion under me might lift me up and alleviate that pressure.

Good point. I've tried an inflatable cushion in the past. It works a little. The issue is that the wings of an inflatable crush down on the outside of the pacseat seat because the pacseat's material isn't wide enough for my entire butt. This makes all the air move out the center and I end up sitting directly on the pacseat seat anyway.

I just ordered an inflatable cushion that I saw on another Pacseat thread. It was only $15 on Amazon, so if it doesn’t work the way I’d like, I can always try something different without breaking the bank.

I put the cushion right on top of the seat. I find the back rest very comfortable "as-is." Once you find an angle that's comfortable for you, the back rest shouldn't need any extra padding.

Another thing you can try if you don't want to use a cushion is to tighten the cords that hold the seat together. That might raise you up enough that the back of your legs don't "dig into" the bar.

Didn't think of that. Will give it try. Thanks!

Work on getting a narrower butt. It'll fit down inside and it is really comfy for long sits. We found a couch sitting in the woods that someone dumped. Took a picture of two bowhunters laying on it. Maybe we could market such a thing.

I just ordered one with the large game bag! I'm going to WV in October hope it's a good one with no problems!! Jason, from TBWPODCAST reviews are good with no problems so far.

Had mine for several years. The old one. I adjust the string so the seat elevates me. No pad needed. But I think a small glassing pad would work pretty well. I usually have one in my pack anyhow for when I’m sitting on rock, on the side on the mountain.
I changed it the straps, backpack and waist belt. Has carried out a few animals last year using it as a pac and when you approach 3/4 miles those black straps really start to dig in. I added the straps from an old alps commander pack. They’re cushy, I rigged them so they’re quiet and comfy, the waist belt has a small hip pocket on each side for snacks & wild checker. I love hunting off the ground in my ghillie suit.

Had my first hunt yesterday with my new pacseat Really like it sofar!! Had two does walk by at 25y on my wrong side. I was in my ghillie suit they never saw me actually looking my way a few times it's like they looked right through me. I made a quiver shield like Dave Toms did for drawling my bow. I really want to shoot one on the ground with a long bow!

I try to set up with a large tree or deadfall at least on the side that I think the deer will come down a trail on...Ideally, I find cover on both sides, and thick stuff behind me that deer won't go thru. And I always wear a ghillie suit (allpredatorcalls.com "kill suit sapper," or my ASAT leafy suit, depending on the background cover.

I've had deer look right at me and not see me-it's REAL easy to stay motionless in that chair-especially after I added a Hunt Comfort Scout gel seat to my pack, & just lay that across the seat before I sit down!

I have 2 regular chairs & 1 turkey chair-all are comfortable, but the turkey chair is alot harder for this "seasoned hunter" to stand up from! You young bucks won't have that problem...for a while...

The more "seasoned" that I get, the less I get excited about climbing a tree. We've been hunting in MD the last couple weeks- my good friend uses a climber, & I have stayed on the ground. We've been out 3 mornings so far in an Oak flat with lots of acorns dropping, pines to the west, laurel to the east. So far, he hasn't seen a deer...I've seen 7 so far, but none in the right spot...such is ground hunting with a trad bow, but I LOVE it!

I've shown this photo before, but here's my rig (this was on a rainy day):

Does that bow holder work well with your quiver attached?
I often look for a set up where I can lean my bow off my bow arm.
* edit I use a version of this seat. the seat is a cushion

I was using the sheld like Dave Toms made and it worked great as a bow holder leaning against my leg with bow tip on the ground.

I’ve been using my boots as a longbow holder. It doesn’t work with my recurves, but it’s like it was made for longbow holder. The picture was in a ladder stand, but it works the same when I’m in my Pac Seat!! Something to try if you are a longbow shooter. Good luck and be safe!!

It sure does- here's a photo of my bow in the holder. I have 30" arrows, and this bow is a 60" Widow, so sometimes I need to clean the ground up a little to keep debris out of the nocks, but usually I can just put her in the holder & the nocks are fine.

The bow is either in the holder, or she sits across my lap.
