Packable wader/hip boot for quick crossings

Just a thought. I've never tried it, but couldn't you punch your boot through a contractor bag and then tight bungee around the ankle? You could loose bungee the thigh. Really all we are trying to do is a quick prevent water from coming over the top the boot.
No need to punch, just slip the bag over your entire leg and a bungee or two on each side. Unless your really unfortunate, you won't rip a hole on the bottom of the bag big enough to soak you before you get across

I saw something in a youtube my kid was watching the other day (THP, maybe? I was preoccupied). Looked like silnylon or similar fabric, made to go over boots for a quick crossing. Piqued my interest immediately. Looked a lot quicker/easier than packing and changing in and out of standard hip boots.

I'm turning up a couple but curious if anyone has tried any of these.

Looks like wiggy's makes a pair. I've never tried wiggy's stuff but it seems to have a bit of a cult following. Wonder if anything about them would be worth the extra $. https://www.wiggys.com/clothing-outerwear/lightweight-waders/

Frog toggs. I've had good luck with some cheapo frogg toggs stuff, I'm a fan - https://www.froggtoggs.com/Rana-Eme...fbKgC3rK_LpxX9o0PO7Qug9XvS30UndcaAiGKEALw_wcB

Durability seems to be the obvious downside. Some of the reviews are comedy gold, people expecting these things to stand up to their boneheaded abuse. But any input as to what would make one pair more slightly more durable than another would be ideal.
Not exactly what you’re after, but I hunt swamps primarily and love Dan’s Snakeproof Froglegs. I mention these because I’ll also wear them when hunting dry ground and will even keep them when one-sticking. Tough, pliable, comfortable, warm, and most importantly they stay waterproof and won’t get tears.

Some hodgemen wader pants and crocs are pretty easy and cheap.

55gal trash bags. One for each leg.
I've folded a pair up and stuck in the game pouch of my turkey vest for years.

That being said, if I know I'm going to cross a creek, a cheap.lair of hip waders would be my go to.

I thought a lot about this yesterday. I went out to the marsh and with all this rain the landscape looked a lot different than it did last week. I had on my rubber boots, the Gumleafs and only got about 200 yards before I saw that boots were not going to cut it.

With the drought we had this summer the marsh was at a low point and access was easier. I'm guessing but I bet we got 8 to 10 inches of rain in the last week.

I went back to the truck and swapped those out for the Tidewe hip waders. Now I'm in business! So, I thought. That was not the case. The little feeder creeks that meander through that big marsh were over the depth the waders would work. I'm guessing 4 feet but i did not find out. It was still water, so I wasn't afraid of it, just blocked by it since the hip waders were obviously going to overtop. I had to call that spot a loss for the day and head to another area.

I have a set of heavy duty Cadiz chest waders I have not tried out but I have a feeling they will be pretty cumbersome to walk in but they should do the trick since they come up to my armpits.

I need to get a lightweight set of chest waders now, dangit.

I bought a set of those cheap Hodgeman this past season. They worked well enough and didn't leak either. They are cheap feeling and probably won't take much abuse but they worked for quick creek crossing. I put them on right at the creek side and took them immediately once I got across. You can roll them up small enough and stash them close by for the return crossing. For $24 they are worth trying.
I used these this last season too. Work fine but had to patch them already. If you don't keep them pulled up where the reinforced bottom stays under your feet. The side wall will rip easily while walking across rocky creeks. Not alot, but had to patch them.

literally had this problem yesterday....wore my oboz boots for comfort because i dont like climbing in my bulky lacrosse boots if i dont have to....we had some decent rain and the area i hunt never floods or holds water too bad....except for this day apparently. couldnt get to my spot due to abnormally high water. I have waders but i wouldnt want to wear them all day (bulky and noisy) those wiggys look decent and i too would want something that goes over the boot and take off easy.

I bought a pair of the wiggys but I haven't even tried them. Not something I need much around here but nice to have in case I ever run across something.
