I did a lot of DIYing platforms - I still have them all. Having said that, I have not used one of them since the Predator came out. My recommendation is if you can spare the coin - buy a predator. if not others will work to include the DIY stuff.
 
I have made several and enjoy making them. My Ridge Runner is really nice, though. My plan for next season is to use some of my DIY platforms as presets.
