Platform workshop

Put crossbar at radius in the tubes going down to lower anchor, lower and far away from tree as possible. I have never held WE stepps either but looking at the tie off point as the "lobe" of a cam. When the step cams down the tie off point needs to be lower than the top bar you stand on to keep the lower anchor point from floating. Ropes need to go thru the step rather than routed over the top.

@smcchevy NAILED IT, the cross bar must be below the plane of the top anchor point. This is what the first design lacked. Per your earlier question, the material used is simply emt conduit I had laying around 3/4" size, 16 gauge. It is soft material and lends well to bending, making it a good material for prototype.

Another evolution complete. Building off the Ole Beaver Tail idea, this design features 2 radial bends protruding from W.E. rear. Looking at it from the top, it reminds me of a heart drawing, and thus will be called Heart Attack Platform. I am able to spin a full 180 on this platform, as well as side load when swinging around the tree. Total weight 1lb 14oz which is a few ounces heavier than the Ole Beaver Tail. Dimensions are 16" wide x 11" deep

Revisiting the ole beaver tail design.
This revision pulled in the weight, and is the smallest platform I feel comfortable on with a full range of motion.
Solid when side loaded, along with the ability to turn a full 180 degrees.
Weighing in under 20oz, this platform can easily fit in my backpack.
The Ole Beaver Tail revision 2 is the first platform from the work shop to make it past trial and go into powder coat.weight.jpgside.load.jpg180.jpg

You using heat to get those bends so tight? Guy with your fab skills (tig welding) could probably make a better product with better material. Conduit is junk, but good for initial concepting.

@kenn1320 Yes, the conduit is a good low cost material for prototype. I started with the W.E step design due to it's ease for replication. Final phase will be square tube stock. Along with non platformed steps for a complete climbing setup.
Platform Workshop thread will see a V2, in which I will fabricate an aluminum folding platform. I have several designs in concept phase on C.A.D at this moment. With 1 of these designs ready to be cut from aluminum stock I have on hand.
Platform Workshop V2 will be be here soon :)

This is how i did my camo. Foam sheet from crafts store and an xacto knife. I sprayed tan through the stencil and then dusted some dark brown on afterwards to mellow it out some and make the tone less regular.
