I was thinking yesterday about how my gheenoe just gets more enjoyable as I use it and I get more and more fond of it. Made me think about other things I have that just keep on getting better rather than slowly tapering off in enjoyment (like most new gear).

What POSSESSIONS do you have that only get sweeter with time? I don’t want to hear about your spouse or children or jobs or religion, just interested in stuff that you find lasting utility and value in having and using

For me right now:
Gheenoe
E-bike
Merino Wool
Spray painted mossberg 835

For me it would be a my EDC flashlight. I have a couple versions of the RovyVon Aurora. The one I carry now is similar to the one listed. I bought one of the titanium ones and it lives in my pickup. I didn't like the titanium one quite as well because I put it in my mouth for a hands free light, the little groove in the back works perfect for biting.

Material possessions. I think that’s what you are asking about.

Probably just my bow. I smile every time I look at it. Weird, I know! Purchased in 2009, 321 IBO, 3.9 pounds bare bow. We’ve been on a lot of adventures together! It has done its job every time I have done mine. (To each their own, but I couldn’t imagine spending $1-$2k to upgrade every other year or whatever people do. Spending $ believing that another gadget will result in more tags punched - not how it works! Point of diminishing returns.).

For me it’s my bow. It got me back into hunting, which led me to saddle hunting. It’s also a great stress reliever for me. When I’m shooting my stress and worries fade away.
All in all I’d say it was well worth the cost of buying it.

Oh man I have to be the first to fan boy and say it. My LWCG .5 and hihherend hunting clothes. The .5 elimated a ton of just general frustrations I had trying to hunt. Like my climber always getting caught on stuff. Carry 100lbs in the woods everytime I went.
Nicer hunting clothes elimated wearing 15 layers to try to stay warm. 2-3 all year and I’m good.
Yes people Ik I’m a fan boy. I’ll say it for you.

My Old Town kayak.
Nice shotguns.
Ghost cut turkey calls.

Not completely hunting related and sometimes I do use it for hunting but rarely much anymore but my little Honda Rancher 420 (now 10 years old) is probably one of the best gifts I’ve ever received. My family bought it for me and it was a complete surprise. They had it sitting in my neighbors back yard for two weeks before Christmas and I never noticed and let me tell you they live right next to us. It hauls wood, deer, plows snow, trapping gear you name it and if I want to go for a ride in the woods it’s fun for that too. IMG_0713.jpeg

Ooo... love the idea for this thread...

1. My bow... Matthew vertix...
2. My truck... 2014 F150 ecoboost... the older it gets the less I care about how it looks or how many napkins my wife has jammed in the glovebox.... also the more I just like the fact that I have it.
3. My woodworking tools... planes, chisels, bit and brace, and some hand saws...my favorites range from 60 to 91 years old and they're still workhorses.

Woolrich wool bib overalls. I still wear a pair my mom gave me while I was in high school (FWIW I graduated in 1980) every season after temps hit the <35F marks. They fit more like pants now and have gained a few holes but I'm still sporting them. I have two newer pairs that fit more loosely but I still gravitate to the old ones for everyday wear.

I still have the first DC Wood Duck call I ever bought. It was my first piece of duck hunting gear. Still have it, which now that I think about it is shocking. It's at least 10 years old and still perfectly functional. Sounds better than any other one I've tried. Most of them don't even remotely sound like a real wood duck.

That's probably my only hunting possession that fits the criteria.

But, I have a cast iron skillet that I bought new when my wife and I were still dating. Its been around over a decade. Bought it to fry some mullet in one day because we caught some and were going to cook at her place and she literally didnt have a skillet in the place.

I assume it'll be feeding our daughter soon.
