Found two different unusual piles of scat while bow hunting an area of public for whitetail. A quick google search shows that it could potential be a black bear. Should I completely abandoned this area or will deer still move through there?

If the wind is blowing from the west, there is a nice east facing hill that could provide cover and definite trail systems.

We have black bears all over east and central Florida. Outside of maybe catching a young fawn, I wouldn’t worry about them effecting the mature deer in your area. Now bob cats, wolves and coyotes, they have the ability to hunt adult deer down on foot but it’s very rare a black bear will. -at least that’s the way our FWC describes them.
