Predator vs DIY

Just about ready to put an order in for my very first saddle setup but wanted to hear some pros/cons and opinions of the Tethrd Predator platform vs a DIY platform using a Lone Wolf hang-on seat. I don't mind building something but I also don't mind waiting for a Predator. I just want to get something that's gonna work good and last awhile.

If it’s a klemz style that you already own and you are mechanically inclined I would save your money.

Used both. Currently use the Predator. It’s honestly hard to beat the predator. Cost wise it’s a wash unless you have the seat already. Predator packs smaller, over a pound lighter, easier to setup and is just as solid. Either will work and I was certainly happy with my diy XOP platform but the Predator is just sweet.

For what its worth trying to DIY one without the ability to weld aluminum or sand cast it.... Has put me past half the cost of the predator and it will be bulkier and heavier if I can even get it to work. By the time I acquire a seat for a Klemz style I'll likely be at the cost of a predator. Should have bought one from the outset. But I tried saving money and didn't have the resources stockpiled ahead of time so I've really just wasted time and money. I did build a wood one out of scrap which is currently what I use but its definitely a temporary solution.

Standing on the predator for the first time in the woods. I might be converted from ameristeps. My initial thoughts are this is great. Much better than my XOP platform

My wheel chair foot rest platform cost a whopping $60. Weighs 3.5lbs. Not sure u can find the platform for $20 anymore though

I should mention I haven’t tried a predator but my diy is rock solid once cammed over. I just can’t see dropping $170 on one at this point

I was first introduced to the xop platform at pigmageddon. Honestly after seeing how much it flexed with those guys that weighed around 185 I didn’t want to even step onto it weighing a hundred pounds more. The predator so far has been great. I think it shines in two places compared to the xop type. That’s pack ability and ease of setup.

Isbthatbthe shop rider one? I've looked but couldn't find. Of course that doesn't mean its not there.

Thanks for the input guys. The Predator looks sweet so I'll add it to my list of things to order.
