Preferred platform for Guido's Web/JX3 Hybrid

Just wondering what guys that hunt from a Guido's Web or JX3 use as their platform at hunting height. With these "saddles" mainly designed to straddle the tree using the whale tail or stand-off to keep you off the tree, is there any advantage to using a platform like the Predator over a ring of steps or a couple of screw in steps?

All of the demos I’ve seen with the JX3 and Guidos are platform-free or minimalist, using doublesteps on highest stick, a simple 9/3-o’clock step configuration, or a light pivot platform at most. I believe it’s meant to be for sitting 90% of the time anyway. @kyler1945 can probably get into more detail on this one though.

This is not original, but the stackable sticks I like very well. And tree bolts when I can and on my presets.

Platform is a waste with JX3 (imho). I use a ROS to help moving around the tree. Squirrel steps on an OCB

I am currently using a single Wild Edge stepp and two squirrel steps on a OCB strap. The WE stepp helps with getting the spurs off and back on. I have a Predator for my Flex.

My LW Handclimber is mostly just my climbing method. Once at Hunting height I use two Cranford Screw in steps on either side of the tree.

Agreed w/ most of above. Gonna add in lw hand climber as climbing method this year so I’ll give that a try as well. But steps of some kind are perfect for this setup....

Thanks all. I've had a Guido's Web for several years now but just don't ever give it a fair shot and end up using my climber most of the season. I want to change that this season and go with the Web more often, but have also been eying platforms and DIY saddles and all that good stuff. I tried the Trophyline tree saddle years ago with a ring of steps before the platforms became a thing, but standing on those steps killed my feet and legs so I sold that for the Web. I'm thinking the platform may be a game changer.

I just bought a web, never hunted from a saddle. I bought a platform as well but haven't really tried either. I like the idea of being able to stand if I want but have no idea. I'll be trying them tomorrow with my bow. I'll report my first impressions, I'm sure it'll be interesting

I am 100 percent a platform guy. I also hunted out of a web for a few seasons. In my opinion a ring of steps, screw in steps, or something similar is a much better option for the web than a platform. Reason being is a ring of steps is more inline for a "sitter" and a platform is better designed for a "leaner". The web is designed to be sat in. Sure you can lean but that thing is so comfortable I was definately a sitter when using it and the ROS was definitely a better option. They give you somewhere to put your feet, or atleast a more conducive location to put your feet and it also gives you more foot placement options which is important when dealing with the very short bridge of the web. Good luck with your web I hope you stay with it. It makes all day sits an easy day.

Well, my first practice round of climbing, sitting and shooting. First impressions, the web is unlike anything I've hunted out of. It does seem that a platform is mostly useless. My next practice session will be with a Hawk Helium on the opposite side of the tree as a step

Just got a Guido's web (thanks Kyle) I have helium sticks that I'm planning to climb tree and use as platform. Has anyone tried the stand portion of their x stand climber to climb with the web? Is the x stand platform stable without the seat strapped to the stand? Planning to practice with the x stand this week. Thanks for any advise.

I don’t use a platform. I use a stacked outdoors stick with two steps on larger trees if I need them. For the record you can stand comfortably

when i am using the guido, i used the t step on a ladder.sometimes i would put to muddy pro sticks next to each other. Anything else just didnt seem necessary.

This is the reason I say you do not give up much weight compared to a minimalist saddle. They carry a platform that weighs 3 pounds generally

In my Guido's Web I use a ring of 5 Ameristep.
