Preferred Strap for Pioneer Step

I’m trying the API cam straps. $20 per pair
I’ll send you feedback after I have some real hunts on them. I’m only 160#.
They are black in color and not the thickest / highest quality .
I’m planning to pull them from a extra dump pouch with a S biner or a XS sea to summit mesh pouch like raisins suggests( have yet to sew molle to it)
Otherwise I’ll 2 stick or use bolts

I broke down and ordered some with the highest strength rating (utility webbing) from strap works. Cams are just too quick, easy and a minimalistic strap for climbing. I would love to just use amsteel daisy chain with 2 rated buckles from austrailpin but not sure about all the time consuming splicing. I don’t feel that as a climbing method, the step has to be all that tight and I am 255lbs with 13 boot.

I personally do not care to move a tether as I climb. If I had to, I would just grab my LWHC.

it's safer and no big deal once you get used to it, adds a minute or 2 to your climb

step trucker hitch method with a daisy chain too slow for you? it's as tight as a cam buckle

Im Not concerned about weight at all. We are hunting 100+lb animals after all so any system below about 44.5lbs is fine (based off of gear I carry up mnts for work weighed for aviation manifests). Most weight savings for hunters can be had from D&E. Ease/stealth of use/climb and comfort is what will make or break a hunt. I do not prefer anything that has to slide up the tree like tethers or potentially one sticks. Also harder to layer up in tree on a ROS as well. Always pros and cons to every climbing method. If only bolts were legal/would work on public

I need that

I would say most of us do. Seeing how 18-25lb stand is now too heavy for hunters to carry and things like actually pedaling a bike is now too much work and out of the question. Welcome to the future
