I have 40' of Dynaglide. Is this acceptable to use as a preset , or should I use paracord ?

Also: When installing a preset, once it's over the target branch, do I tie it around the base of the tree ? Or simply tie the tag ends together ?

thank you

Paracord is cheaper and generally harder to see than a neon dynaglide.

As far as connection, are you base or canopy hitch? If canopy, you’ll want to disconnect the preset. If base anchor, a tied loop is fine.

Thanks. So I'm new and not sure what canopy vs base is. But I was planning on using 30' of Oplux (with an eyelet or D link) as the climbing rope.
I was planning to ascend via SRT (Futura).

Did you already got the Oplux or planning? I suggest adding a few more feet (maybe 10ft) if you have not purchased it yet. Not saying you would hunt that high, but it give you more options in regard to tree selection. My favorite preset tree's branch is 30ft but I only hunt it at 20ft. I just use another strap to pinch the rope to the tree at the height I wanted. You wouldnt even feel the extra 10ft of Oplux.
