I am doing the same thing, first year in a saddle but I had gleaned the platform idea as well.I bought a set of these off a guy an replaced the straps with amsteel in a few. However, I’m thinking of keeping the straps and cam buckle on at least one in order to made a more permanent/stable version of the wooden platforms a couple of guys around here have been making
