Yup. I think I'm going to go home that way. I can't be this close to the Black Hills and not ride through again. So I think the plan is the Black Hills, North Dakota through Bismark and Fargo, on to Duluth, across the UP, across the Macinac Bridge, and maybe the east side of Michigan this time. Although, I really like the Tunnel of Trees and Petoskey/Traverse City area. I guess that will be a game time decision.I took the high route thru SD on the top on my way home from my trip. That route puts Mt Rushmore on the way.
Thanks for the tips! I'm looking forward to the ride. I was really thinking about going south but the 95° day in Texas and the 50 mph wind gusts(that may be exaggerated but I got blown into the opposite lane more than once) in New Mexico made me think twice. You may want to ride through Estes Park as you head north. Beautiful park.
Tunnel of Trees is cool too. If you go there make sure you eat at Leggs Inn!
Not off hand. In that neck of the woods I think you'd be hard pressed to find a "bad" steak. I'd just ride from steakhouse to steakhouse to find the one I like best, lol. Don't get me wrong I had a good steak there. In Oklahoma City you can go to the Cattelmen's Steakhouse. That was a goood steak. Shoot it's all good, but some are just a bit gooder than others. Good luck finding "your" best steak on your trip. Ride safe.72 oz! Holy crap! I think if I tried that it would make my bike way too top heavy
Any word on what the Best steak in that area is?
No steak for me either, just didn't work out...sad. I did get 2 birthday cookies though!Excellent! I put 10,500 miles on my truck the month I took my trip. I didn’t eat a steak the entire trip come to think of it, lol.
My favorite meal was fried chicken from a couple in Rigby, ID, May and Ken Thurmond. Best store bought was a green chile cheeseburger from a joint in NM.
ETA: I did have a chocolate pie from a burger joint (The Montana Cafe) in Darby, MT that was damned good too. Got an apple and a chocolate, but the chocolate won best in show because it was so much better than I expected it to be since I’m not necessarily a big chocolate pie fan.
