Did a search on here and failed... Is anyone just using the rock harness, without adding a sit drag? The search function gave tons of info on sit drags instead. Thanks!

Sounds terrible for most scenarios, if you had a platform and were in the crook of a tree that you could lean and get comfy it would be ok. If you were just standing up on a platform I think you would move around way too much trying to be comfortable.

I hunted out of a conventional climbing stand with a rock harness for a long time, I believe since 2007 or 2008. Over the years I would occasionally lean into the harness just to switch it up on all day sits. Just a stock harness hooking to the belay loop, it works but certainly isn't comfortable for long. You also lose the functionality the bridge provides in aiding your body to rotate for shots.

That’s the same way I converted.

The larger harnesses offer more comfortability but a sit drag, etc to add surface area for your butt and thighs make longer sits enjoyable.

Possible? Yes but I wouldn’t enjoy it for multiple hours

I’ve thought about it. I think you can do it for shorter hunts if you’re a leaner using a solid platform and have a comfy harness. I have a petzl falcon that is very comfortable. Thought I would use it for hunting as such but found out a minimal harness with the sit drag was a lot more comfortable and less bulky. Now I just have an expensive tree prepping harness.

Also even primarily as a leaner I still like to change positions and sit too and it’s not something I’d recommend in any harness not specifically designed for hanging for extended periods of time.

Because of the connection point on my RC harness, I found there is a significant amount of pinch, which means discomfort, which means constant fidgeting. Not sure about the animals where you live, but the animals around me aren't real keen on me moving around during our game of hide and go kill.

I currently use RC harness only. Yes it isn’t as comfortable as the treesaddle but I wasn’t miserable either. I am a stander though so that probably helps my case.
