New to saddle hunting and going to change my lone wolf stick strap to rope mods. What length is best 6 ft or 8 ft? Thanks..

Personal choice 8ft if your doing large trees but 6 ft is more than enough in my opinion on normal size trees

Go find the biggest tree you plan to climb and measure. There will always be a tree you can't get around.

I would go larger....8ft

I have 8ft and climbed a odd tree this year where the first stick had about 4 inches of line left, second step wouldn't fit around the tree at normal step height so I had to put it right on top of the first stick (it was where the tree split into three trunks), then third stick was on a small trunk after the split. Long way of agreeing with everyone. Tree was the only thing out in the middle of an old clear cut so no other choice of trees to climb.

I climb a lot of trees that have those big trunks and split about 8 feet up, I carry a 6 foot piece of 1/4 amsteel with Loops in each end so that I can extend one sticks rope
