Can anyone recommend a 10-13 mm rope that is easier to splice an eye in?
Best bet is go on wespur.com and look at double braids like what tethrd uses to make their linesman and tether and make sure its spliceable. It will tell you in their description. Whether or not its easy I guess is up to you. Easiest rope to splice is amsteel but you dont wanna use that for a tether. Can anyone recommend a 10-13 mm rope that is easier to splice an eye in?
Easier than Predator. DIY Sportsman mentioned in one of his videos that he did splice Predator, but that he would never do it again. I would like to do 12 spliced eyes. At $25 each at Wespur, I'm thinking it would be worth the time to learn to do it.Easier compared to what? I bought treestand safety rope from RW rope and I thought it was plenty easy to splice
Good tip. I'll do that and give them a call tomorrow.Best bet is go on wespur.com and look at double braids like what tethrd uses to make their linesman and tether and make sure its spliceable. Would you use this for a repelling or is it not suitable for that?I have spliced this. It's really easy to put a double braid splice in. Also, even though its advertised as 1/2 inch the cover is somewhat loose on the core braid so it still works really well in those 7/16" devices (Ropeman, ATC, Safeguard, etc.). That looser fitting cover is what makes this so splicable.

I use it for rappeling during climbing practice or when I'm demoing gear. It runs fine in both my Safeguard and my ATC, in fact it might run better in my ATC than my 7/16" Tachyon. And it's rated over 6000 lbs. I like the fact that its a little bigger diameter as its easier to tend with my free hand. I have pretty large hands and smaller diameter ropes are more difficult for me to get a sound grasp on.Would you use this for a repelling or is it not suitable for that?

Good deal buddy that looks like the way for me to go thanks for the detailed info!!I use it for rappeling during climbing practice or when I'm demoing gear. The only reason I don't hunt off it is that I asked the wife to buy me a 30' length for Christmas last year so I could give splicing it a try. I didn't want her to buy too long a piece and then find it not usable for me. Now after splicing both ends (second end just because it was joy to splice the first end) I only have about a 26-27' length available. Its just a little to short for me to hunt with. I'll probably buy some more in the future but I'm pretty set on rope right now.
I did a bunch of predator eye spices last month. Getting pretty good at it. Still takes some effort. The wire fid makes it so much easier. It does take some time to get used to it. The rope from r&w that is used for tree stand stuff is really easy to do, it has a looser cover I think. I did a tachyon tether last year, that was a tough one, predator is much easier IMHO. It just takes some determination, some time, a good pair of gloves as well. Got some blisters. I used some tips from another web site. I’ll have to see if I can dig it up.
Man, I'd love to splice predator. It's a lot cheaper than the the R&W rope.
Please send any links you come up with.

This procedure works well with Predator too. Don't get me worng, its not as easy as the RW rope but its definitely doable. The only real difficulty is getting the core pulled down through the cover again. I've gotten to the point where I won't hesitate to splice predator rope this way. It gets easier every time.Man, I'd love to splice predator. It's a lot cheaper than the the R&W rope.
