ROS broken quick release buckle

Had an interesting morning this morning. Got to my spot and climbed up the tree and while I was hooking up my ROS I torqued the buckle to much and broke. I had a deer bust me as well during the ordeal lol. Anyway had to climb down and get back to the truck and grab old faithful (predator platform). I wasn’t on the steps when it broke (thank God) but I was pretty bummed about it happening. I’m pretty sure it was my fault that it broke but here are a couple pics. Be careful when locking down the quick release buckle because it can be torqued and break.

Great time to replace it with OCB

I broke 1 also.... Best to start camming with a little slack and slowly work it tighter.... In my case and yours IMO it's user error. ...dano replaced mine without me having to ask.....

The sewn version is much easier IMO also....

It was definitely my fault...I worked it way too hard it got torqued as I was camming it over. DanO did replace it for me as well. I’ll have a new one by Monday.

I thought about, but didn't act on, searching to find either a rivet of better quality to replace or a small bolt or screw....I mean in theory u could drill both rivets out and use a bolt that goes thru both holes increasing strength

I’m actually on some saddle hunt pages on Facebook and someone actually brought that up. That person told me that you could possibly fix them with “buck rivets”. Not sure if I could find them that small but he mentioned to me that they use those to rivet together aluminum sheeting on semi trailers and enclosed trailers.

Got your old broken one laying around where you could tell us the size of the bolt we'd need to replace it with?

At first I said the bolt straight through would be a good idea. However while out this morning, I was looking at my OCB and thinking about it. That would actually interfere with the camming action. The layers of strap need the recessed back of buckle to lay over top of them. The bolt would get in the way, I think.

Let us know if you try it please.
