Was messing with the saddle today and ran into the "weak side shot problem". Kind of got to thinking about it. Any of yall run a ring of steps along with a platform? And if ya do, how does it work for you? Thought it maybe a possible solution instead of having to some kind of weird acrobatic to shoot off my weak side, i can just pivot around the tree.

If I’m on an all day sit, or if I don’t have a long hike in I’ll use both together. While this combo can resolve the weak side Issue, it requires a lot of movement. If I have the ability to circle all the way around the tree I’d also have the ability to spin the opposite direction on platform. In my experience neither of these things is often possible.

Yes, I took a strap step, cut out two more steps and put them on the same webbing. I attached the webbing to stirling 6mm and made loops to attach to the platform. I tighten with a ratchet strap

Get three of these 1” squirrel steps (slotted). Add them to the strap of your platform and you’ll thank me later

I use 4 ROS in conjunction with my one stick platform top. Yes, it helps you find stability for some funny shot angles that would otherwise require some awkward contortions and a lot of core strength. Plus, it’s comfortable sometimes to set your feet spread on each side of the tree like on motorcycle pegs. Helps stretch out the hips which are usually getting pinched a lot of the hunt.

I've been a treestand guy my whole life so a platform is natural to me. The strong side shot on a treestand is the weak side shot on a platform. I use the LWCG Ambush and just spin. Most of my trees are pre prepped. I bang in a couple RR spikes on each side. Most times I can get 360. If it's not a prepped tree then I just use a couple screw in's.

Another yes! I had 3 monkey bars on my platform strap, but with just 2 and I can get all the way around. Monkey bars are the Hawk brand ROS. I put one at 3 & 9 o’clock . It’s the one thing I don’t think I can improve on.

Those are some awesome ideas. Ill try putting some on my platform strap. The trees in my backyard are hating me right now lol

Last season I ran my predator in conjunction with a couple of steps from TreeHopper with an ocb. They worked well and made those awkward shots much easier. For this next season I'll be using a 1stick with with a couple of the new xop Orbit folding steps with an ocb.

Another vote for adding steps. I like to put them on a separate strap so I can run them lower than the platform strap in some cases.

In my honest opinion after 4 seasons of saddle hunting...I can come up with no reason not to use a ring of steps along with the platform...it has been the best of all worlds...

I hunted out of a Latitude X-wing with an OCB including 4 squirrel steps all last season and it was very comfortable and stable. The only problem I ran into was that if I had my ROS too tight it was hard to cam over and set the platform (ie. it was TOO stable).

It's a very adaptable system, and I found that I more often than not liked to sit in my saddle with one foot on the platform and one on the ROS to hide behind the tree, then slowly move to the platform to take the shot. This was comfortable, safe, and successful for me last season.

This is how I like them too on a separate strap. I've had my platform loosen up if I stepped on the backside step when on the same strap.
With the ambush though I honestly don't use them that often because it's large enough to maneuver and shoot in any direction on its own.
