Rubber stop on tether

I bought a box of rubber fender washers at the end of last season, thanks for the reminder. If I can find them, I'd be happy to mail you one, will report back when I've gone through my mess

Sometimes it's tough to get the right size washer started on your rope if you've got a big fat shrink tube on the ends...

I've actually untied my quick-link to slip washers or my Mini Kong figure eights on that end because the other end of the rope had a 'bulged out' shrink tube.

Yeah this. The rubber neoprene washers I have end up tearing putting them on so I gave up and bought the OHM locker. I like it.

I just picked up one of these and tried it last weekend with Oplux. Was happy with the results so far. Last year I double looped through my quick link at height, but used simple tension one-sticking on the way up.

I wish I was a headlight on a north-bound train

This is what I was trying to find! Thank you!

Also thanks for the ideas everyone! Gonna grab some rubber fender washers tonight! Also just got a mini figure 8 to use as a Prussic tender from ewoo and It’s awesome!

No, actually the words alligator clamps was probably the wrong wording. I’m actually using these:

I found these today at Lowe’s. They come in a pack of three for $3.

I'm definitely trying this. Have some extra hitch pins hanging around and I use a quick link on my tether, once I add some stealth strips this should work great, and avoid the $12 3D printed locker price. Will probably experiment with the rubber washer and this pin. In my mind that washer will have to be pretty tight just to hold the rope up. but with the pin it will be plenty strong and quiet.

The classic Nite-Ize gear ties work well but they kept braking on me.

For a traditional tether I found that a bit of bycicle inner tube doubled up with a piece of Paracord to make it easy to slide down works great. If I was still just using a tether I would still be using this method.

The hitch pin clips mentioned earlier work well. It can be a bit tricky to find ones that hold tightly enough. I also put a dab of JB weld on the end of each making a rounded end so it’s easier to put on the rope.

For my birthday, my family got me an Ohm Tether locker and it works great. It’s more compact than the hitch pin chip and doesn’t clank as much. Goes on easily enough and holds securely.

I’ve also tried the large fender washers but found it slipped some, plus in order to rappel down I had to push it through the quick link. With a triangular link it wouldn’t be so bad but with an oval it was a tight fit and honestly I prefer to not have to mess with much when I’m ready to come down. So for me the Ohm or the hitch pin clip wins out. On a regular tether the fender washer would probably be a great choice and certainly cheap enough.

The ohm didnt want to work for me. I really have to fight for it to clip to the rope. Went back to a Celtic knot made from accessory chord. No additional metal clankin or stuff to vet tape wrap.

Has anyone had experience with the 'saddle hunters knot'? This came up on my YouTube feed and tried it out last night. It actually seems like a great idea. Cons would be harder or extra step to retrieve the rope, but might be worth it as it makes the girth hitch almost clamp down on the tree and will not move without intervention.

Do yourself a favor. Try the wire style chip clip. It seems absurd. Just try it. :tearsofjoy:

With the celtic knot made from accessory cord, I can pull lever of safeguard up and with my thumb above the knot, slide the knot down as I rappel.
