I'm not allowed to reserve the Fort Stewart campground any longer. Have to be active duty. We also run into the issue of food. The place I used last year needed 2 weeks notice. It's not terribly easy to find a company willing to do our event.

So what is the plan if the campground is flooded @g2outdoors? If its flooded then I'm guessing we will have to find our own accommodations.

@g2outdoors I'm Active Duty Military (Navy). Let me know if I can help with reservations or what need be on the base. I'm out of PCB FL but I'll do what I can. 850-532-5900.

Altamaha is 19.5 ft at the Baxley gauge. That water will probably be at Altamaha park by the end of the week :confused2:

Ok guys I've been tracking this for 3 days and the forecasts have been right on the money. I'm going to make a very educated guess that the Altamaha campground is gonna be under water come Thursday. With the help of some of our current military members, I think we're going to be ok at Fort Stewart.

If you are attending the event, please check your email. I'm about to send an update.

We've made the decision to move the event back to Fort Stewart.

Money
I'm going to refund everyone's payment except $60 ($50 for food and $10 for the t-shirt). If after reading below, and the change of plans is too much to handle, I will refund all your money except the t-shirt. Those have already been purchased. I will mail it to you.

Lodging
We'll have access to the same primitive site (Holbrook Pond) as the previous 3 years. Our current military members will be taking care of this, so you'll each have to pay for your own campsites. More info to follow about this.

Food
I'm working on securing the food now. If I can't work it out, I'll refund the $50 for food and we'll all eat beanie weenie's and pork rinds :)

Hunting
If you've hunted Fort Stewart before, your weapons registration is still valid. You'll just need to login and purchase another iSportsman permit for 2020. Everything else is normal.

If you haven't hunted Fort Stewart before, you won't have time to register any firearms for this hunt. So this may have just turned into an archery hunt for you. On the other hand, a BUNCH of guys have registered multiple weapons during previous hunts and can lend those to other hunters. I have 4 registered myself and can lend those out to anyone who wants one. I know of at least 10 guys attending the hunt that have registered multiple weapons.

Another bonus of hunting Fort Stewart is they allow big game centerfire rifles :)

Here's what everyone needs to do to prepare for the hunt:

- Register for your Fort Stewart iSportsman Account

Create your account.

Purchase the appropriate license (daily hunting) and print all necessary forms.

Open/closed areas will be posted through this website daily.

You will need to log in/out every day of the hunt. I’ll help you with all of this. It’s easy.

- Purchase your GA hunting License

You can view the license fees here.

If you are going to fish, make sure you add that as well.

- Download this map to be used on the hunt.

You’ll also need to download a free app (iPhone or Android) on your phone called “Avenza Maps”.

Cell service is very spotty on FS. This map works in airplane mode.

Feel free to ask questions. I know this is a lot of information, but mother nature is not cooperating.

So who has an extra rifle they can lend to their new saddle hunting buddy? You'd be entitled to 50% of the pork that is harvest as a standard fee of course haha.

Apparently I'll have some extra 17hmr and 22 mag ammo since I only have a 6.5 creedmor and 12 ga registered :)

Do muzzleloaders fall under the same category as other firearms that need registered at Fort Stewart? We were there last year but stuck to archery. Now I’m regretting not registering some guns then.
