Schwabisch hitch

It all depends on what rope you are using as far as what cord to use, but for the basic hitch it is just a ring like object in front and a twist of the hitch cord in back, the hitch on the left. Any ring will work in the front, or a bow shackle that is easily available, since it isn’t needed for life support and the cord would hold you if something went wrong, so even the cheaper Chinese rings everywhere on eBay would be ok. Otherwise the ISC rings are about the cheapest way to go from a more recognized company.
The brass ring tender in back is a bronze bushing cut 1/2” wide, available at Ace Hardware, are 3/4” and maybe 7/8” i.d., these make the tending easier, but not necessary. The hitch on the right is a way to use just a piece of hitch cord instead of sewn, spliced, or individually tied eyes.

man i just tied the michoacan and it's great. releases well, bites super well using a 7 mm Bluewater VT prusik cord w/ sewn eyes. Same issue when tying the VT is that cord is just too long.
An option to use up the extra length, a four wrap Michoacán, the eyes are brought under the top of the carabiner, then to the back, each between itself and the rope. Tie the two eyes together, put one eye inside the other and use a screw link to hold together, and when putting it on the rope above the hitch, it can be used to help push down on the hitch. It also works for a 4-2 VT.
