Sean's Outdoor Adventures DIY Climbing Method

anybody else experimented with this? seems pretty legit, though I'd probably choose some different materials

There are some concerns over this method especially with many other safer alternatives.

Id be afraid the step would kick out if the bottom wasn't secured to the tree somehow. Maybe if another tree bracket was on the bottom or some sort of spike to engage the tree

I do agree that there are safer options out there. Sean even agrees with that and made that clear in his next video. But if you're comfortable with it it's definitely a lightweight way to go. ...and very packable.

Yeah that is definitely a possibility but getting that strap nice and tight and "setting" the step before putting all your weight on it would be a good idea.

I like this idea, seems efficient.

The only thing I would do different is repel down, while removing the steps.

Declining in the dark would difficult.....climbing in the dark would not be easy.

Sean did a video on that because people were asking him about using that method in the dark. He said it wasn’t bad so I’d assume it’s a learning curve like any method.
