Set up for a tether and rappelling out

It’s true, canyon elite is a static line. I use it as a tether. I’m not worried about it one way or the other. I use a lineman 1 on my belt too.

To me, the whole idea of a saddle setup is to eliminate things that I don’t need in a setup to function well. That’s why I do it. You gotta decide if you want to or not on your own.

Most hunting to me should be <20 ft..... Where I am if you go to high you cannot shoot down through the canopy.... 30 ft is really high for hunting....

I’ve often hunted off the side of a steep ridge where at over 30 feet in a tree a deer is nearly eye level on the ridge top and easily within bow range.

Also, angle is a matter of distance. Rifle hunting affords longer ranges and therefore an opportunity to climb higher when it’s advantageous without being hamstrung by poor shot angles.

It’s situational.

In light if it being just after the Masters I will offer a golf analogy, I wonder if sometimes people describe climb height like they describe driving distance.... But you are right, it is situational...

8mm rope is out of specs for the Madrock and GRIGRI PLUS. It is in specs for the FX and FCX.
I am considering moving away from the madrock to be able to use the smaller rope. I'm not sure it's worth it, I'm really only interested in being more compact

Do you already have 8mm rappel rope? I'm using 9mm ( canyon elite, i think) with a Maddock but I might be swayed to switch if the 8mm packs up better, well quite a bit better

Thanks
Madrock spec are 8.9mm to 8.1mm . It's your call but a far as packing the ropes I wouldn't change because of that. I have 40 feet coming and my friend has 8mm and I used it. It is more flexible than my Canyon .
