There aren't many opinions out there yet on the fixed Shikars. I ordered some a few days ago and I'm second guessing not going with the Beast sticks already. Planning on cable aiders. Someone with experience with both sets please talk me out of trying to cancel my order.

I just bought a used set of the standard 17" Shikars after buying a couple of the mini ones. I haven't climbed with them yet but first impression is they're really light and feel solid. Love the way the steps and stand offs feel as well. My plan is to put cable aiders on them and use them for my shorter distance walk in hunts.

Not exactly the same sticks but I bet you won't be dissapointed in them.

Your post says " or beast sticks".

As I have not used shikars I was reluctant to comment.

I will tell you that I am out of the market in this area since I bought my beast sticks.
I have one set up to one stick for public land and use all four on private when I leave them up on occasion.

I picked up one FXD . Very pleased with it.
May add a cable Aider, I have used Two Step Amsteel for practice.
There a few pics on here of permanent aiders.
( I like EWO over Beast =no help there.)

Mini beast sticks get my vote. Between those 2.

There you have it.
I' d close voting as Enkriss has some great past feedback from trying about every method/ stick / equipment.
See stick round up / stick fetish and similar threads.

I have had both. They are both very lightweight, both are well made and backed by good companies. I used beast sticks this past season and bought the FXDs for this upcomming season. I don't think you can go wrong with either. Only thing bad about the beast sticks is you will want to stealth strip them ( in my opinion). My only concern with the FXD sticks would be one bolt holding the step on could cause the step to wiggle loose and cause a wear issue over time but that is being picky. I really like my FXDs I got a set of 4 on sale for 360 shipped. I will say I have not used the FXDs yet but can't see any issues with them holding good to the tree.

Good to hear from someone who has had both. Apparently he press fits the steps on the Fxd so that should help, assuming it doesn't increase stress. I'm jealous. I paid 320 shipped for 3 of them.

I bougth them on a 15% sale on Black Friday. Yes the press fit should help and I don't see pressing them on being an issue , its probably only a couple thousandths press fit. I wouldn't buy them if they didn't have fixed steps.

I own the shikars but not the fixed ones. I keep them opened up so just like the fixed set. I love them, they are quiet and stack very nicely. I had a set of Beast sticks and again very nice sticks but they are noisy, although I don't really worry about making noise like some folks. I think walking to a tree crunching through the woods let deer know you are there if they hear ya anyway. You cannot go wrong with either buy I think the Shikars bite the tree better and pack better as well. Shawn

I’ve got the standard shikars, really like them, kept them opened up pretty much all last year. Put the scout platform on my top stick. Light weight and compact. Contemplating on just making them fixed.
Recently bought some beast sticks, and haven’t hunted with them yet, but have tried them on a few trees. And I like them a lot better. I like the fact the beast versa button is more centralized on the stick.

My 2 cents, could change by next year.

I just got the Shikar fixed 20’s in and I am going to compare against my Beast Minis. This is the first time I have seen a Shikar stick in person and I am impressed. I did go outside and do a quick hang with one stick though......

Shikar is solid on the tree but so is the Beast.
Beast stick is more tingy/loud because of the hollow tube. My Beast Minis have no silencing material as of now
Beast is slightly lighter in weight and I mean slightly. 1.60lbs. Shikar vs 1.5lbs Beast (less straps)
Shikar has 20” step and Beast Mini is 18”.
Shikar 4 pack stacks 2” shorter than the Beast Mini.... 8” Shikar vs 10” Beast
Shikar has an average of about 3/8”-1/2” more foot room when on the tree.

Really like the Shikar Fixed. I will do more comparing before passing final judgement.

I haven’t used the shikar, I have used the beast... so this may be biased, but I say beast. The shikar aren’t appealing to me.

I watched lots of videos before I ordered...... they look better in person. Great stick just as the Beast sticks.
