Shipping costs

Are you going to the UPS store and getting prices or do you have an account? You need an account, promo code EASY, make that box as small as possible, and never give them an extra inch on the measurements
100% This . I ebay’d 2 identical items .
One was $15 and change. The next was $26 for an extra 1” height and width package as I didn’t have an exact match( usps) I have an fedex / ups account at work that is half the cost and need to set up a personal . It’s been frustrating lately.
May have to get back to FB marketplace :(

I thought UPS and the UPS store were the same until I tried to ship a firearm back to Ruger. UPS store freaked out that I was even in the building with a firearm even though it was packaged according to Ruger. Apparently the UPS store is totally separate. We do have a UPS hub that will ship without all the fuss.
The stores are “ franchises” and often add margins.

I'm pretty unhappy with USPS and if getting something shipped UPS isn't double what the USPS option is, I choose UPS.

Small heavy objects its almost impossible to beat the rates of the USPS priority mail flat rate boxes, lately service has definitely been unreliable, I ship UPS for everything else, never use USPS ground service it is a nightmare at best, I have never used Fedex but I can tell you when I buy things shipped Fedex it’s been impressive, UPS has been good to me too

So when you say “unreliable” have you had shipments lost or significantly delayed? I had some long waits near Christmas but nothing since. I shipped a camera arm priority mail a couple weeks ago and it made it in a few days. Of course I haven’t used them as much since I quit selling on eBay.

I had a windwalker tree stand go missing for 2 months, it was a complete nightmare, tracking number disappeared, it was a mess, it finally showed up one day

That stinks. I can’t imagine that, I’d be beside myself. I looked at buying a beal jammy on EWO but shipping was as much as the Jammy. It didn’t specify what carrier so I’m not sure if it’s ups or usps.

I won’t even get into what happens when they lose a package, google it, they auction off your stuff, the place has no phone number or email, and you have to hand write a letter with photos of the object with a 5% chance you ever see it again, if my memory is correct I think it’s called the mail recovery center near Atlanta Ga, I literally was checking the auction schedule to get my tree stand back. I called every post office person I knew and it finally showed up.

I am glad to see other people venting about this. I took such a bath on the last backpack I sold that it wasn't really worth selling anymore, only reason I sold it was to make good to the buyer on my word.

Currently want to sell my Eblerstock X2, but shipping just destroys any semblance of recovered cost from new. Same with a set of Muddy sticks.

I do agree with above comments on small heavy things fitting in flat rate boxes, seems like its reasonable.

You’ve passed on your bad mojo with usps. I just got a notification that my sterling accessory cord is delayed. They said it should make it by the 24th but if not to contact them. Speak of the devil.

A month ago I shipped a package to a very patient member on here through UPS, I assumed all was well, a couple weeks go by and it shows up back at my house through the post office, wrap your head around that, the post office had no idea how it happened, so I drove back to the UPS store and told the kid at the counter what happened and he had no answers either so he shipped it again, this time it made it. Last week I shipped another package to a customer from a gunbroker sale, through UPS, a couple days later he informed me that he had given me the wrong address and to expect it coming back my way, yup whatever, never ends right, so I patiently wait it never shows, tracking number just said delivery exception and quit working, customer emails me and said he got it straightened out were all set, great I thought. Today I get an email that UPS had charged my account another $18 for a delivery change, somehow this guy, with only a tracking number mind you, was able to change the address for the final destination and have me get billed for the change, I still can’t believe he pulled that off, I was the shipper and the one who paid, I will be calling the UPS billing department Monday morning when they open up, I guess the lesson of this story is I would probably not post tracking numbers anywhere public if he could pull this off.

Why I don't understand is how everything you buy from a manufacturer is fee shipping especially if you buy over a certain amount... they mark things up that much?
Oh, yeah. Probably at least 100% markup. Have to. Lots of costs besides just materials and labor to put the product together. Advertising, Insurance, facilities, utilities, equipment, packaging, and.....shipping. But they are also getting the sweet heart deal in shipping too if they do enough business. They aren’t paying what you are paying, and in some cases are making money with the “handling” fee. Gotta love Amazon Prime.

Yeah, EWO’s shipping costs are kind of ridiculous. 5ft of triglide or 80ft it’s $12.99. 5ft of Canyon IV or 50ft of Canyon it’s $12.99. To their credit, they will add to an order before it ships if you forgot something. Just place your new order and while checking out, in the notes box ask them to ship your new order with your original order #xxxx and refund the shipping. I have tacked on three additional orders while waiting for my ultimate one stick to ship and they have refunded all shipping costs for those additional orders. So if your waiting fort your one stick, you have some time to decide if you need other things as well. Has worked out well for me and EWO has simply been awesome in this respect.

Most definitely have to make sure you order everything at once or you get killed on small items. Good thing is they will add to an order before it ships if you forgot something.
I figured that’s the case but I haven’t been in the market for enough gear to justify the shipping. The upside i suppose is that those guys are experts in saddle hunting. I’d really like to try one stick with their ultimate step but it’s just too cost prohibitive right now.

Three words for EWO’s shipping and they’ve already been mentioned in this thread....

Flat. Rate. Shipping.

USPS priority mail you pay for the size box, not by weight of contents or price of contents. If it fits in the box it is one flat rate.

I couldn’t remember the weight limit for flat rate so I checked and it’s 70lbs. Their largest box is roughly 12x12x6. They have a wider one that is 23x11x3. Both are like $21ish at the post office. That’s not a lot of space for a stand but maybe a platform? I don’t have sticks so I don’t know about demensions on those. I mailed a camera arm and disassembled it and it cost less than$14 to ship it. When I sold a lot on eBay my postmaster told me to do an online account and print my labels from home and it would save a “lot” on shipping. I never did set up an account so I can’t testify if it did or not. I mailed lighter items in envelopes and usually paid less than six or seven dollars depending on where it was going.

True, but 5ft of triglide or a Beal Jimmy would fit in a coast to coast $7.95 2 day flat rate envelope, vice a $12.99 flat rate box.
