I picked the CGM hat this morning and it got me thinking about how much I appreciate @always89y and his incredible commitment to helping the community whether or not they use his gear. He’s been so generous with his time helping me on the phone multiple times both before and after I bought anything from him. I don’t wear much branded gear but I’m proud to put on the CGM hat.

Gotta also mention @Brocky because the sticht was an awesome addition to my climbing gear even before I had a saddle.

Also appreciate everyone that contributed to the lengthy 2TC and friction hitch threads.

I know there’s a ton of other guys that have helped us all be better saddle hunters so don’t be shy, let em know!

I'll echo the shout out to @always89y . Super helpful dude and doesn't hesitate to take the time to listen to you and explain things.

I'll also thank @CharlieTN for helping me get started and teaching me alot of the beginner stuff.

theres alot of others here who have been super helpful and answered questions and provided advice. Thanks to all of you that have responded to my newb threads and dumb questions, and some PMs.

And thanks to everyone in the support thread for helping me to spend more money than I ever thought I would getting into this hobby lmao.

I'd also like to add, this has been a pretty cool forum in general. Alot of helpful folks, great conversations, a little banter back and forth, funny jokes and camaraderie. Most all here are genuinely helpful.

Alot of forums there always seems to be a few trouble makers, infighting, people that just like to tick others off for no other reason than to cause discourse, etc. I haven't noticed much of that here, if any really. This is a great bunch of folks.

A bunch of guys here are awesome. Can't name them all because it is basically all of them.

@Bigterp gave me the pin location that I got my first bow deer with.

@PEEJAY let me borrow his WildEdge Steppeladder to test out.

@Exhumis sent me inserts just because I wanted to try heavy arrows.

@MN_Bowhunter4 sent me a whole Sage bow, that I have since passed it forward.

A few others too that are too humble. I say this multiple times. This place is my sanctuary and one of the few things that is good on the internet.

Papa Squirrel for this place and some of the original characters I am surely forgetting, DIY Sportsman, the OG youtuber, had some good early hang and hunt content that got me out of the climber. DaveT for helium mods, still my stick of choice, and Klemz for the brilliance of his platform imo he was the spark that launched a whole fad. And AeroHunter RIP, made great saddles when other companies not to be named were pumping out game changing garbage fit for infomercials.

Shout out to @Steve Plemmons who invited me over into his basement to try stuff out. Just some random guy off the internet.

Then everyone I meet at that first meet up at Ft.Custer and showed me all kinds of cool stuff. @DanO was there. @boyne bowhunter, @Boomah21 @BCHunter I think? I know I am missing some other guys who were there. I can't remember.
Thank you all for making my wallet lighter! Lol.

As others have said I have to give the shoutout to @redsquirrel . I had bought an Aerohunter EVO saddle before finding this site (packaging in the EVO recommended Saddlehunter.com as a user reference) but I never would have made the conversion without finding this site and thereby learning how to refine my methods based on other users experiences and suggestions.

Its been a while and I can't remember all those who helped me along the way but I know have to credit @Cbigbear for introducing me to one sticking. That's probably the biggest "game changer" for me in my saddle journey. A pretty minimalist, user friendly means of accessing the canopy was critical for me in making the transition.

Also, even though I was a die hard saddle hunter by the time I came to know him I have to give @always89y a lot of credit too. I feel like half of my current setup has been influenced by him in some way. In fact, my DIY saddle is based off of his original "Sally" build and my gear hanger is an only slight modification of his cable clamp bow hanger.

Fact of the matter is that I'm still filtering through information here that I may or may not incorporate into my setups. Thanks to all for your free sharing of information here!

@Razorbak66 @GCTerpfan @Red Beard however made my wife's naughty list. They are the reason I'm so immersed in Trad bows that she starting to feel jealous. No joke, she told me last night to stop talking to my gay lovers and go to sleep because we were group chatting about longbow at 11 pm. @GCTerpfan wasn't in the chat but he actually live too close for her comfort.

I just read this to my wife and she said to tell you that “actually it’s because GCTerpfan goes to bed at 9:30” :tearsofjoy:

From the responses it appears this thread is about who got you started saddle hunting. I’ll have to list them in order from oldest to oldest ha!

1. My first ever saddle (which I still have) was made by a group out of Belmont, NY and I actually shot deer out of it. My cousin’s first ever buck was a spiker taken from the same saddle. This was in the mid to late 1980’s when we went to a sportsman/bowhunting whitetail show and they were selling them on the spot. When I brought that thing home
My Dad just looked at me at first like ***? But he was actually supportive after I explained.

2. Then the OG Treesuit guy, can’t remember his name either and never met him in person but just as I was reading up on Eberhart stuff then the Treesuit guy came out with the OG Treesuit around the same time. Shot deer out of it too.

3. John Eberharts books and videos in the late 1990’s early 2000’s

4. Then folks on here include to name a few: @boyne bowhunter (one sticking); @SloMo (aiders and muddy pro mods) @Weldabeast (munter hitch a little bit of everything); @bowhunthard88 (bow technician stuff, gear Input, generous dude!!); @g2outdoors ( general saddle setups); @Bigterp (a little bit of everything and just a kindred spirit) @GCTerpfan (has reached out on western hunting and offered up his hunting camp!!!) @always89y; @kyler1945 (generous-thoughtful); @Allegheny Tom (travel info) , @Topdog (big bucks and predator hunting) @Jammintree (muzzleloaders and northeast big buck hunting); @OspreyZB (optics); many more I’ve forgotten but shouldn’t have!
