Show Me Your Scored Buck

Been my experience beam length and mass are where the numbers really can change. Also longer brows help immensely as few deer have much over 3” brows but throw some daggers out there on fat bases and you can easily pick up 5-7” over an average brow with pencil horns. Carry that mass into the second or third circumference and that’s another 3-5”. I think mass is hard to judge unless it’s just a log beamed beast. Depends on if the oval is vertical or horizontal how they look from the side.

Does anyone have a dataset with the individual measurements? Doesn't even need to be any particular recordbook. I'd be interested to see if there is any correlation between beam length and spread. And beam length and mass.

I can only speak of my personal observations, on bucks I've killed or bucks I have observed. I get to watch dozens of bucks throughout the year so I think that I have a pretty good handle on buck evaluation.
I've not seen any relation to beam length versus spread versus mass.

First 3 pics are of a deer I chased for years in deep southeast Mississippi dubbed “Big 9”.. Weighed 210 lbs and green scored 148” 4 times to be sure as an 8 point and was aged at 6 1/2 years old, officially scored into the Magnolia State Record books at 139 7/8. Ranks #13 in my county and holds the largest 8 point record… Last 2 pics are a southern Illinois hill country 9 point shot out of my phantom November 2020 weighed 240 and scored 130 3/8

I feel like I've posted enough spreadsheets that I can ask for scores with a straight face. I'm not asking for a WMA or coordinates. Just a state. If you're shy just the weight helps. I'm curious to see how much body size impacts perceived antler size. I know it's a thing. I just want to see how much.
Body size is the biggest thing I’ve found to be the difference.

The pic of you with that 8 is just wow. Awesome deer! Congrats

Appreciate it, google “Giant 8 taken in pearl river county” and you’ll find the Mississippi Sportsman article wrote on him

Iowa, 2015, 122" gross, tooth wear suggests 3.5 year old, not weighed, but probably 200+ live weight.

Iowa, 2020, 124" green gross, not weighed, most likely only a 2.5 year old. And no, I'm not stoned in the photo!

PA 2008, had this buck walk right thru my shooting lanes in bow season while I was still pulling my bow up from the ground. This pic was taken in my plot for 3 hours on the 1st afternoon of rifle season. I could have easily, legally shot it out the back door but that would be cheating. He was back again on the 2nd day for another 1.5 hours. A neighbor shot him on day 3.
I'd field judged him to be 140", 4 or 5 year old.
Screen shot 2013-10-03 at 10.21.44 AM.png
I got to score him after the neighbor killed him...140-1/8"...I was off only 1/8th inch with my on-the-hoof estimate.

This buck is a story. Legitimate 10x6 in 2019, Estimated in the 160s on the hoof, body was not very impressive. Pedicels were uneven...left pedicel was low on the forehead almost coming out of the skull at the eye cup.
Screen Shot 2020-02-10 at 11.22.53 AM.jpeg
Neighbor found the sheds...with an estimated spread, the buck would have scored ~162"

Here's the crazy part, this buck went from a 10x6 in 2019 to a clean 5x5 in 2020. I'm absolutely 100% certain it's the same buck due to the uneven pedicels...I had a ton of pics and videos. Buck got shot by a pain in the rear "trespasser" in November ...reportedly scored 168". Not sure about his age.
