Size of Oplux Vs HTP 9mm

Here is a 50 foot piece of Sterling 9mm HTP.

8.0 mm, 8.5mm, 9.0mm, tails 10.5 mm and 11.4 mm. About 35 foot each. I don't have any Oplux.
That is really nice thanks, just trying to weigh the cost/benefit of buying smaller/larger rope for rappelling.

I’m interested as well. This 65’ of predator is great for DRT but I don’t think I want to haul it just to rappel.

I am considering a hybrid sort of system, If i bring about 20 feet of rope if I move my stick down one time I should be able to rappel the rest of the way. It will save some bulk and money.

I am weighing the same thing. I have one tree that is 37 ft tall. Everything else is 20-27. That one tree is messing me up a bit. But I love that tree...

Oplux packs way better and is lighter. But if you’re only packing 30-35’ or so for rappelling, unless you’re really dialed in you’re not going to notice the difference. If funds are unlimited, go for it.

I bought 50’ and made up about a 45’ length for those real high hunts on a slope. Then I realized those trees are far from typical for me and it didn’t make sense to haul a long rope everywhere when I could just one stick my way higher for those rare hunts. I think I’m around 35’ now. That amount of Oplux disappears in my tiny pack! It’s great.

If I had an extra $70 burning a hole in my pocket I would buy some Oplux. I felt some at the North Central PA Saddlehunters meetup and it felt small and did not stretch. Very nice. I feel my pocket getting hotter. :D

Oplux all the way, stuff is amazing, I bought 30’ to rappel on and I don’t even notice it in the pack!

40' of OpLux fits nicely in one of DanO's water bottle holders (right side of my battle belt).

Tie an Alpine Butterfly in the middle and connect with a screw link and rappel down one side then yank the other side to bring it to the ground, no pull line needed. You have the option to one stick, SRT, or DRT with that rope.

Yea I’ve been trying all three with it right now too. How do you package yours?

I wrap 65' of 11mm rope around my 20" modified Summit Buckstep then use my Klemheist loop and biner (detachable bridge) as a shoulder sling. Rope, single stick with two step aider/platform 7.4 lbs

Gotta post this again. 6.5 lbs, ready to climb. Nothing else is needed except a tree. :D (Platform sold separately.)
