I'll think on that and know something by time I c u in Ga.
Main reason for me was the bulk of carrying a stand on my back.
The thing I hate the most is carrying a climber on your back. Then you gotta duck under some low limbs. You stand up and one of those dang limbs had got stuck in your climber and you can't break free. I seriously get VERY mad when that happens.
Don't have to worry about that any more now.

I started saddle hunting because I like the that you can shoot 360 around the tree. The first time I hunted out of the treesuit I shut two doe they didn't even know I was there so then I was hooked I also like the weight of them it's like you're not carrying anything. Sometimes I walk a long way and it's nice to put the Kestrel in my backpack have a set of Stepp ladders and away I go. It's a great way to hunt and it beats carrying a heavy stand in the woods.
Figured why not? Seems like a good way to drop weight off the back and looked interesting.
Have only played in the yard so far. Waiting for my platform to arrive and have to see how it is shooting my bow from it.

My viper classic hits everything lol. I'm only 5'8" so if I need to take a big step over a log I'm bound to hit it.
Don't really have this issue with my xop vanish and stick setup but it weighs a truck load, probably 45 with my pack.
Probably wont use the saddle for gun but seems good for bow.
I like the saddle life just for the fact of weight rating! I'm 6'5 300 pounds with out gear. A lot of you have no idea what it's like walking around feeling the tree stand flexing under you that's only rated for 350 lol. Big confidence booster in hanging from rope That's rated at 6 to 8 thousand pounds lol in the saddle ,God bless.
Lots of reasons for me, but the #1 reason that got me to pull the pin was safety.
I've developed an issue of falling asleep in my stands (I always used hang on style stands). It was getting bad. I was to the point of the dream stage, drooling and even woke myself up snoring. I figured it was just a matter of time until I fell and got rudely awakened by the abrupt yank of my safety harness. I used to have a Trophy Line years ago but didn't like it so I never used it. When the Kestrel came out, I decided to give it another try. After a season with it, I have a dozen more reasons why I will never again go saddleless.

Last summer I had a major back injury... 10mm x 16mm x 9mm extrusion of a disc. Couldnt carry the weight and i was damned if inwas going tongive up hunting from a tree lol

After 18 years of 100% mobile bowhunting I switched from a climber to hang-and-hunt in 2017. Once I mastered the hang and hunt it was a no brainer to try out ditching the stand to cut bulk. I'd been eyeing up saddles back to the trophyline days but that climbing change was the big catalyst. It wasn't all rainbows and unicorns and took a lot of adjustment my first saddle season. But I am all-in and don't see myself going back to treestands. The ability to slip through brush without a stand to snag, and the ergonomics of carrying a good pack vs. a jury rigged treestand. Yuge.
Back in the late 80's, I met some wiry little old dude in the mart while we were both gazing at the end of season clearance items on the huntin rack. He proceeded to tell me about the big bucks he killed on highly pressured public land jaunts, miles from the truck with his Anderson TreeSling. It piqued my intersest, so I ordered one on the following Monday. After receiving it, and seeing all of the benefits first hand, the rest is history.
Seems I couldn't stay awake in my climber, but rarely doze off in a saddle.
