Southern Snowmageddon 2024 Thread

We got right at 8 inches yesterday in SE TN. Spent the day pulling boogie boards through the snow with a side by side. Kids had a blast. Came in for hot cocoa and home made snow cream, then back out for more snow playing.

We don't get good snows like this often at all. I'm used to it from living in Pittsburgh for 10 years, and I prefer the cold. I'm right there with @gcr0003 in hoping for a mass extinction event for the mosquitoes.

Couldn't make it this morning, but bags are packed for tomorrow morning. Supposed to be 15 degrees on the Gulf Coast. Got a good ridge with known bedding and fresh buck sign that catches some good sun and blocks the wind. Hoping to catch one thawing himself and eating acorns before I've got to work.

First time I've got out for deer since opener

Made it back but the roads are getting worse. Cold water on our upstairs sink line froze. Hoping it’ll thaw without busting anything.
space heater/open cabinet. You can turn on faucet a bit so when it starts to thaw it’ll thaw faster. Small section freezing doesn’t usually burst anything but if a larger section freezes it runs out of room to expand.

4 calves under a week old before the storm, 2 since the storm. Only had to put one in my floorboard to warm up so far. He got a Mt dew/electrolyte mixer to give him a boost. Caught a pair of coyotes hanging out close by the hay rings, probably waiting on the little one I stuck in the truck to die. Neither of the yotes made it out alive.

Caught a sounder of hogs in the bar ditch a few miles from my place this afternoon. Ran the banshee 10mm AR dry, transitioned to the 22 nosler loaded with 55gr nosler E tips. Pinned 3 of the 4 sows and 12-13 piglets. Felt like Burt Gummer in Tremors 2 after it was all said and done. qaw90kglpxv51.png

Real feel at 9 degrees this morning. Had to break out the emergency hot hands stick on warmers and insole warmers.

For southern folk, I don't think you can beat them. I bought a couple of bulk packs 8 years ago. Use them 2-3 mornings a year for days like this. Sipping hot coffee and waiting for the toasty goodness on my chest and lower back to kick in.

Kind of excited. Didn't see any deer driving or walking in, but the fields were loaded last night and yesterday morning. They'll be moving today. Just wish I could sit all day.

One of these days I hope to make it. Still be doing it in 12 years?? :)
It’ll go on as long as guys are willing to come, companies wanna create and donate new gear, and my family is willing to allow it…..

By the way it’s 31 here today. This freezing water is for the birds. You guys come take your temperatures back lol

3 actual and -9 with the breeze here this morning. Supposed to hit 35 and sunshine today so hopefully we thaw out a bit. Rain and freezing rain for tomorrow and another blast of cold for the weekend. I'm ready for the snakes and skeeters to be out, screw this foolery.

we are at 3 right now and a wind chill of -20, a high of 12 today. We are patiently waiting for the nice weather next week, highs in the 30's!

Between the Christmas lights and me running a propane stove I got the sink back flowing! The drain pipe is still froze on the shower but it’s a short run with lots of expansion room hopefully it’ll be ok. Battling it for one more day until the temp rise a to a reasonable temp.
