Southern Snowmageddon 2024 Thread

It rained some yesterday afternoon so it was was frozen rain water. Haven’t had many beers in the cooler since Anheuser lost their minds…..
I have a case of yuengling in the garage and it’s been perfect temp at all times with how cold the garage has been. There’s something about a free range beer harvested outside of the fridge that just makes em taste gooder. Coolers have a similar effect.

schools closed 2 days straight here, has gotten down to 19 degrees which any southerner here will tell you is too dam cold. ive had to pry my truck door open both days due to ice. you northern guys who deal with this on the reg are a special breed.
Alcohol will help, especially if you put it in a little spray bottle. I decided to leave mine unlocked to not have to deal with the locks freezing.

i was all in until you said spray bottle then i realized we were on different pages of the conversation lol......noted.
They arent exclusive. Refer to post #82 you can have your alcohol and drink it too. If you’re wanting to drink your de-icing alcohol though I’d go for something a tad stronger and less watery than beer :tearsofjoy:

I have the same response to you southern guys ability to cope with 90+F days . . . :tearsofjoy:

It's not the cold weather that bothers me it is the fact that if you are not really careful and really lucky it will freeze up you pipes and you won't have water. Then when it thaws it will flood your house. Or if you get freezing rain, you can be without power for a week or more. My wife's cousins in the delta were without power for nearly a month in the late 90's from an ice storm.

I was out this morning in 12 to 15 degrees practicing my shooting in the yard. I had on my Sitka coat and was toasty. I have good clothes to keep me warm, but our infrastructure is not built for any degree of cold weather.

everyone around here keeps saying all you folks that keep saying the cold is better than the heat better have your butts out there enjoying this crap.

funny story...wife and i were leaving the airport in new orleans during the summer awhile back and there was a family in front of us that very obviously was not having a good time with the heat. I already knew the answer but i asked them if it was their first time in NO...pretty sure it was their last time too lol.

I'm pretty sure that was in 93 we had the ice storm. I was just a kid growing up and still remember no power for a month. Long before I moved to Arkansas.

Believe me, I do get outside . . . this is my favorite time of year. Going out snowshoeing tomorrow. At least I can dress for this . . . you can also believe me when I say nobody, and I mean nobody, wants to see me dressed for 90+ temps. :tearsofjoy:

Shall we consider an August meet up? I'm sure no one will share any pictures :tearsofjoy:
