Species EV

My brother-in-law had gotten a Bear Species EV last year to start bow hunting. This off season we upgraded his whisker biscuit to a QAD HDX, he had brought it to shop to get installed, timed for drop away and install a new peep (to get rid of peep with rubber wire).

well first shot back home at 20 yards he missed 2’+ to the right. Apparently he was only shooting 5-6’ at the shop. No paper tuning or timing of cams.

So I had him send me some pictures in meantime. Center shot seems way off. His arrow is pointing way far right when nocked and rest is in up position. Trying to remedy that, we’ve run out of rest adjustment (I’m sure it’s well out of spec)

so either nocking point is so far left that we can’t compensate with rest to line up. Can this be fixed in a press, switching “top hats”? Or twisting strings/cables?

All the species are a single cam I think. So no cam timing.
How does the bow look down the string to the limbs?
New peep could have added some torque to the cam possibly.
If you have the arrow coming off strait from the bow how does it shoot? I think compensation is opposite on right to left.

No cam timing but cam orientation at brace is important for single cam bowsz

@MattMan81 with the rest adjustment he was able to get better groups and says with a bit of sight adjustment got groups center of target. But the arrow at the point is still right of the stabilizer. Just trying to get as much efficiency out of his bow as possible.

Do I try and address cam lean @woodsdog2

Put the rest at center shot and run the arrow through the center of the Berger hole. Make sure the string is running through the “timing” marks on the cam. See what it does with that. Also, shooter forum could play a part.

Yes, if you cannot get good tears otherwise.

There's no timeing on that bow I called bear. Set the arrow rest at 13/16 and the top wheel lean needs to be adjusted to get no lean at full draw.

I did all of this to my bear species Ev single cam check ATA and brace hight and it shoots bullet holes in paper. Now I'm back using my long bow.
