Speedy Stitcher

I used the standard needle and coarse thread. Seems like it will hold fine, but my hunch is that this would be better done with the finer needle and thread. That was on tubular webbing. The flat nylon webbing weave seems to take the coarse needle fine.
Thanks! This is super helpful as I plan on using tubular webbing too.

Do you use these with the speedy stitcher? Do these have an eye at the tip or do you just use them upside down?

No I use these like a typical sewing needle. The tip is round and has no eye. Samson has a pdf on how to stitch rope splices and a speedy stitcher is not needed.

I used a sewing machine needle in my speedy stitcher. I used one labeled for denim. I broke one but they are cheap and push through webbing much easier than the needles that come with a speedy stitcher. Makes a lot smaller hole in what your sewing also.

You can use it to stitch up your hand though :)
I can personally vouch for this. I was using it to lock stitch a rope slice and managed to stitch right through the the index finger of my left hand. . . I think I said ouch, or something to that effect!

I've had one for years . Very handy but never stitch a saddle with it. Does work very well.

Broke out my speedy stitcher last night and stitch a public land bow and gear hanger .

I've only stitched on thing with mine. I didn't have any problems. I just have the cheap one from harbor freight.

Most army surplus stores carry the original Speedy Stitch with the wax thread. Less than $20. I used mine to attach a harness to my climber treestand for transportation - I am not brave enough to sit 20' up in a tree with it. It did carry my climber for 4 years without issue.
