Speedy stitcher

Hahahaha, I was trying to figure out what a speedy stitcher was at first. Finally googled it and realized I already had one. Got it in Afghanistan to stitch up and alter my gear or repair my boots. This sucker is really gonna get some use now. Time to pick up an extra ALICE pack frame (or three) and get ready for some winter indoor projects.

Maybe we should refer to it from now own as a manual thread injector. It just sounds better and it will really throw those new to the forum for a loop. It took me months to figure out what the heck a thread injector was when I first started lurking here. Pete

What kind of thread are you all using in conjunction with your speedy stitcher to create your saddles? I want to make sure that I purchase something that will stand up to the rigors of the elements and ultimately if a short fall were to occur.

Cheers

i used the waxed thread that comes with the stitcher. They have 2 different thicknesses. I have built a couple sit drags and a rough looking kestrel style saddle as well as an aider. 6'2'' 300+ and i have no worries about my stuff ripping.

Thanks for the info. I put in an order at Strapworks for a Speedy Stitcher plus some 1" tubular webbing to make some more aiders since I was already there.

I’m using 40lb spider wire fishing string.
It is a bit expensive for a thread, but DANG strong. It doesn’t bury as well as the waxed thread if you use the big needle that comes with the stitcher, but it is a bit easier to work with otherwise.

What string/thread are you ggoing ya using to sew straps with your speedy stitcher?

I have done some looking around for one, and the best price is DEFINITELY at harbor freight... Under $7. For those of you that have purchased that one...is that one serviceable for the small odd project? And as far as thread goes...what are the thoughts on center serving thread for archery? I have a bunch and it seems very tough.

that's awesome job.

I have learned to watch your fingers when you use the speedy stitcher. Could not tell you how many times I have stuck my fingers. Do not use this tool when watching college football :)

Where can you get the waxed thread when you run out of what it came with?

Amazon has waxed threads

Has anyone used Kevlar thread? I'm slightly concerned that the waxed polyester will degrade and root overtime?

How does everyone finish their stitches? The instructions say to use a square knot, is there a better way?
